How long did it take you to get over your first serious relationship?

I was only 17, and of course, the break up shattered my world. I was never, ever going to fall in love again, and find anyone like him.

I once dated this girl for about 2 years, it wasnt love for me it was lust. She rocked my world and was a "trophy wife type"

 

It took me almost 6 months. 2 Months NC (did NC for me but she came back to me) and got back with her for a month and ended it again.

 

But she would haunt my dreams for another couple years even while with I was with another person. (the dreams would be we were still together, even though I didnt want to be with her)

Honestly, I can't remember how long it took to move on. I caught him cheating and was crushed. Oddly, I saw him a couple years ago and my heart rate kicked up a notch as several memorable moments came flooding back. I'm sure a lot of that had to do with him being my first.

First serious relationship? Hmm... Maybe 10 months.

 

Second serious relationship. 1.5 years and counting...

Funny, it was the "least serious" of them, and in time as I got older, they got more serious, but I got better at getting over them. My last relationship was by far more serious than the ones before it, but I got over it the quickest.

 

Heh, nothing like being a young baby with your first heartbreak... never feeling that before, it's like the world is gonna end.

The first guy that I felt love for I was close friends with in sophomore year. It was that classic unrequited love situation where he was in a relationship and I was too but I only wanted him. I'm going to say it took about a year to get over. Although I was younger and didn't even date him, it still hit me pretty hard. I think of him every once in a while but don't feel anything at all anymore - just a bit of nostalgia.

It usually takes me a solid 3-4 months to get over each break up I have had. The relationships lasted from 6 months-4 years.

 

My most recent break up was a bit over three months ago and I feel like I am just over the last hurdle of getting over it. Finally. We were together 1.5 years.
