so the title says it all. she's been on antidepressants forever (since 16) and she's struggled to reach orgasm the whole time. She very rarely reaches orgasm with partners, almost never. I've been lucky enough to help her reach climax a handful of times, which is better than any other partner before me. The best way seems to be deep steady motion for about 30 mins while she masturbates herself and this only works about 1 in 5 times. But most of the time I can't seem to hold out for the full 30 mins of going hard and deep anyway. She used to be able to reach orgasm alone while masturbating, but about a year ago she switched to Effexor and although it's been great at keeping her emotionally balanced, it's killed her sex drive, made orgasms even harder to reach and now she can't even reach orgasm while masturbating. She has no desire to masturbate. I'm good at getting her in the mood so the sex drive hasn't been a big issue, and somehow I still manage to get her close enough to reach orgasm on occasion, but the Effexor has really crushed her ability to cum. She's on 225 mg a day.

A few weeks ago we split a viagra and she came twice within about 15 minutes. This really shocked me, as this has never been possible before. She said she's never taken viagra herself but overall it was a great experience. Any thoughts on this? She is also on klonopins for anxiety (max dosage), a mood stabilizer (I forget the name) and pain killers for other health issues.

Any experience with women taking Viagra?

Any experience with women taking Viagra?

Use of Viagra for women is supported empirically when the woman is on antidepressants. There are no contraindications at this time, however, the test period has not been significant enough to identify complications as yet.

Small dosages of Viagra can be used and is successful in a great many cases. 1/2 a pill is suitable for a woman. Remember, Viagra is made for men and so the dosage is meted out accordingly. And, even some men don't tolerate the full dose, thus the "4-hour warning" :). A woman who is overdosed, so to speak, will begin to experience pain in the clitoral area due to overengorgement. That being said, it has not been approved by the FDA for use by women.

I think it's extremely irresponsible to have her take prescription drugs that has not been prescribed specifically for HER and overlooking the risks to her life it could have if it interfered with the drugs she is already taking !! Can you imagine this cocktail of drugs made her heart stop!

If she has difficulties reaching orgasms she needs to talk about this to her doctor.
