I came across this Richard Pryor clip and I think it is spot on. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=7&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDwQtwIwBg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DoJaDMfIBw5c&ei=Hl5mVde1Bs7-yQT2wILwCQ&usg=AFQjCNFRZmwbKD8Ki9GL0qj1rz-OEylKkA&sig2=d9YuzjegUdTK_K_61WJ3Tw

I feel like it is a blessing to go through this at a young age because then you have all those years to go through life with eyes wide open. It can make you or break you but for those it makes it is like an immunization shot. I went through a nasty divorce at 24 years old but I am glad it happened when I look back. Yes I went to far in the women hating for a while and I am glad I stopped that but I am grateful for the insight it gave me.

I know what red flags to look for in a woman and that in the unlikely event we do divorce I can survive it and thrive afterwards. After my first marriage I gained a confidence I never knew I had and great things followed. I can also appreciate having a good woman much more because I know it is genuine. I had to see the rain to appreciate the sun.

The human condition; Struggle breeds resilence... or kills you.

That's life's basic truth. Heartbreak changes you. Changes how you experience love, alters your appreciation for it.

That said, it also can leave nasty scars. Scar tissue, while serviceable, isn't pretty and never quite as good as the original.

I've learnt a lot from my failures in relationships, from heart break. But those lessons came at the cost of my innocence, my willingness to be open and let myself fall.

I've felt the ugly side of love and I know the pain it can inflict. Now any feelings of love are fraught with anxiety, like the man about to plunge his hand into a pot of water, praying to god it's not going to scald him.
