KissMyTiara Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 What should a girl (well, young lady - I'm 28) wear on a first date/meeting with a guy from Match.com?? Have any ideas about what to even DO? It's funny I'm even asking this... I'm usually the master of dating. But for some reason, I'm REALLY nervous about this guy!
HoldOn Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Casual but feminine. How about a longish jean skirt or khaki shirt (Around knee length) with sandals and a nice top? Keep it girly, but casual. Or nice looking jeans with a shirt that's a little tight and shows some skin, but not too slutty.

Classy but not "classical." And make sure he's not married, KMT. JUST KIDDING!!! Glad to see you've got a date. I have one tonight but it's an ex that I've remained friends with. Oddly enough, we're going to see HITCH tonight!
Author KissMyTiara Posted April 24, 2005 Author Posted April 24, 2005 It's strangely cold here in SoCal tonight, so that's another problem. If I cover up, I'll look "stiff," and if I show some skin, because it's so cold, I'll look like I am TRYING too hard. ARGH!
HoldOn Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 You can cover up and still be feminine. By wearing bright, girly colors with like flirty things on them like flowers or ruffles or something!
HoldOn Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 On my first date with my bf I wore a pink turtleneck, but it showed off my assets (if you know what I mean )
RecordProducer Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I don't think the clothes will make or break the deal. Don't wear something too sexy unless you want a one-night stand (my advice). When I first saw my BF who I met online, I wore tight jeans and a casual cotton shirt, I looked more like a teenager than a woman (I am 30). But my hair was great and I had make-up and he fell in love with me on the first sight. It should be obvious that you have a good bod (if you do), but not so obvious that you wanted to show it to him.
reservoirdog1 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I met the the woman I've been dating lately through the internet too. Done that a few times in the last year, so I can tell you what I like. Everything should be in moderation. Be a bit flirty but not excessively so, show a bit of skin but keep it tasteful, a bit sexy without being slutty. On the first date with this woman, we went for lunch. She was wearing jeans, a top that was a bit daring in terms of how much cleavage it showed (and yet without being slutty), and she flirted subtly but noticeably -- touching my arm a few times, expressing interest in thing that I said I liked, etc. Last night we had our fourth date (dinner at my place) and things are going well.
westernxer Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Just treat it like a normal date and put on what you'd normally wear. If it's cold out, bring a sweater or something.
quankanne Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 dress in layers, especially since you don't know how cold you'll be getting to and from date site or how warm it'll be inside a building. This allows you to be comfortable because you'll be at just the right body temp. other consideration: where are you going/meeting for this date. Is it more of a nice dressy kind of place or more of a blue jeans-optional local? congrats on getting back into the dating world, tiara!

MySugaree Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 It's great to see you're back in the game, kmt. I knew you'd eventually break free.
kellyp1 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Just got home at 3 this morning? Sounds like the date went really well. I live in Costa Mesa and understand your dilemna about what to wear. I only went on 1 date from Match and wore jeans and a sweatshirt with a cami top underneath but we went to a bar to play darts. I wasn't super nervous about meeting the guy though, excited yes, nervous no. I think that's when you start to drive yourself crazy! Good luck with this new guy though.
