Last Saturday I went out on this internet date with someone. We met at a local bar, quite honestly I was looking for just some company (as in companionship) for the evening. He was an ok guy, but he wasn't exactly ... Well I just wasn't excited about him at all. All he did was sit there and talk about sports, his dog, more about sports, etc. and I nodded my head and didn't offer any information about myself other than factual things. I said I had another place to be that night (which wasn't a lie) and he said he was going over to a friend's house to watch a game. He ended it by saying "We'll work something out." Why didn't he just say "We aren't going to see / talk to each other anymore after today because we aren't compatible?" I would rather he just say that rather than something snarky like "We'll work something out." And it's been 2 days and I won't hear form him again after today.

What does it matter what he said? I am not too sure that was a snarky comment anyway.

If you don't think you are compatible, you won't be seeing him again, will you?

You weren't excited about him but you wanted him to be excited about you?

Well I just wasn't excited about him at all -- Why didn't you tell him you two weren't a good match? It doesn't matter what or how he said anything. You weren't excited or interested. I don't understand why you are posting this.

You want him to call you again only to turn him down for an ego boost? It seems you are searching for outside validation rather than gleaning that from your own sense of confidence and security.

And, don't go on "internet" dates just so you can have some companionship for the night if you're going to stress over guys that you aren't excited about but appear to have less interest in you. That's a waste of your time and theirs.

And, if you had somewhere else to go that night, why did you need to meet someone for companionship for the evening? I find this a little odd.

Perhaps he is just trying to figure it out. I dunno. Chaps come out with the dumbest of phrases sometimes.
