Kinda mixed feelings...I got a bit of a preppy style about me. I'm 31. I'm so used to glasses that I wear them 95% of the time, but I've got opinions that I look good without them.

Normally, we delete threads asking for opinions on personal appearance based on personal pictures; however, opinions on glasses, in general, versus other forms of vision aids can be discussed.

If images are felt to be necessary, public figures can be used as needed.

Thank you.

I've never met anyone who looks better with them than without.

For some people they accentuate certain features on the person.

Eyewear is popular for a reason nowadays.

Why not both? I wear my glasses to work & my contacts out socially (except for after work events)

I've worn glasses since 4th grade and, while I've greatly appreciated how they've protected my eyes in my relatively dangerous (to the eyes) occupation over the decades, I've noted, increasingly, that very few people in my social circle wear glasses anymore, rather either have Lasix or similar for vision correction, or wear contact lenses. Glasses seem to be worn, increasingly, as a fashion statement when seeking a particular look. I was first introduced to this by my exW, who had Lasix early in our M and wore glasses for a 'look' more than for any vision correction.

OP, while technically I feel glasses may hinder natural appearance, they do have benefits as well, mainly protecting the eyes, whether from incidental projectiles or spray or UV rays. Obviously, such protections can be achieved by other means but the necessity of wearing corrective lenses means they're on all the time, correcting and protecting.

Due to a corneal disease which likely will require a special contact lens to treat, I'll be giving up glasses after 45+ years of wearing them. I expect to get the 'you look different' comments but I doubt there will be any material change in opinion regarding appearance. For a young person, perhaps different. IMO, worth a try and see what happens. Since contacts expire or run out, you can always go back to glasses if you want to.
