simplyconfused Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 My boyfriend always has his phone switched off when we are together. He goes it's because of radiation and to be fair to him he is actually concerned about his health a lot. But then whenever he doesn't switch it off and his phone does ring (usually at about 9/10pm) he never picks it up, saying if it's important they'l leave a message. I don't know if Im being too suspicious or does that seems fishy to you as well?
chubachoop Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 unless thers any reason to be suspicous i wouldnt be. I dont generally answer my mobile when im with my boyfriend coz i wanna spend time with just him.
LittleMiss Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 That's weird. What's the point in having a cell phone if you never answer it?

chubachoop Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I like to call people when I wanna and I like taking calls when im at home. Theres nothing worse than being out with friends and your phone ringing constantly. I sometimes wish my boyfriend would not answer his cell phone so he can talk to me instead!
Author simplyconfused Posted April 22, 2005 Author Posted April 22, 2005 Thanks a lot for all your replies . Guess it's ok then plus I didn't notice anything strange other than that.
faux Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 A while ago there were studies that suggested cellular phone radiation (actually microwave radiation) was harmful to humans in that it could cause cancer. Newer studies suggest that there are no risks. Remember how butter was so bad for us, and now it is margarine that we should fear? If cellular phones cause problems, then the microwaves from wireless access points do as well, among other things. We all live around power lines, and those have been linked to all sorts of nasty things. No matter where we go there is something hurting us, but I'd like to think we'll eventually adapt, even if it means we'll all have eight fingers on each hand and see in infra-red. Sometimes people shut their cellular phones off as a sign of courtesy to others. I think it makes more sense to just shut the ringer off and put the phone into silent mode. Suggest that your boyfriend can put his phone into silent mode, so if anyone calls and does not leave a message he can see if the number was anyone important. Tell him the radiation thing is bull; from the studies I have read, you would have to be holding the cellular phone up to your head, actively using it, for any radiation to affect you in any way.
BigB Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 I think the cell phones that were linked to health problems were the old large analog ones. They put out 5 watts. The new digital ones put out less than 1 watt. I carry my cell everywhere, and it's my only phone. I always look at the caller id, and if it's "unknown caller" or "out of area" I always let it go to voice mail and if it's important the'll leave a message and I'll call back. I get a lot of call from solicitors, and bill collectors that I filter this way. If I was spending time with a girl I'd probably put my phone on vibrate and if it rang I'd check the caller id and only answer if it was important. He's possibly: a) really is scared of the radiation. b) being nice and not talking on the phone when he's spending time with you. c) getting calls from other girls. If you suspect that it's C. Does he leave his phone around on the table or by the door? Maybe you could grab his phone while he's in the restroom and look at the caller ID. Most phones keep track of the last 10 missed, answered, and dialed calls. If he has the person's name and number saved it the phone it's display their name. Or if your real sneaky you could write down the number, call it, and see who answers.
Author simplyconfused Posted April 23, 2005 Author Posted April 23, 2005 Thank you for all your replies:)! BigB that's a good idea.I'll try to do something like that whenever i'll get a chance

I don't think it is good to be sneaky when it comes to things like this. Even if this man is trying to be sneaky, returning such behavior isn't going to help anything.
