Gaeta Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I went on a couple of dates with a psychologist a few years ago. He was the most unstable illogical person I have ever dated. He kept talking about his ex, a woman with whom he had an on and off relationship, and who treated him like dirt. And he ended up going back with her for the 100s times. 1
neowulf Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I wonder what that's like? Ever heard that joke that a plumbers house has the most leaking taps? A lot of people who get into psychology do so because of their own personal experiences with mental illness, or out of a desire to better understand themselves. Some potential positives though; Great skills in active listeningGreat knowledge of personality and how it affects relationshipsA variety of tools, to smooth over communicationA sense of compassion / empthay for their partner 3
todreaminblue Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 have to agree with neo wulf in his posts entirety.....and say shrinks and psyches struggle like the rest of us struggle......its often easier to give advice and direction than take your own advice....deb 1
