I think I'm in denial, but just in case I'm completely off my rocker I wanted to ask this question and get some opinions.

This question is related to a previous post:

A few days ago, I started thinking that sometime in the future, a year or two down the road, I might feel regret for not contacting her just in case there was something there.

So I decided to go ahead and contact her, one last time.

My call went directly to voicemail, so I texted and wrote that I just wanted to see how she was doing and asked how her recent vacation/trip went. I also mentioned that I was meeting some friends the following evening at the same town where she lives and said let's meetup for a drink later, "We'll have a few laughs and you can tell me about your vacation."

The next day, about 20 hours after I sent the text, she replied and wrote that she had a very relaxing vacation. She went on to write that she appreciated the invite and that she had a business dinner that she had to attend in the evening so she wasn't going to be in the area.

Since she didn't propose we meet up another day, I realize that's pretty much a polite way of rejecting a meetup. Right?

I mean, unless my invite was supposed to be more specific or include a place and time.

Yeah, rejected. Don't worry about it. You took your shot and actually did it with some dignity. (No groveling, begging, bargaining, pleading, etc.)

You had what can be diplomatically described as, 'a moment of weakness.'

Be strong.
