It's now that I have realised that I have to step up my study habits as I have very important exams in October this year and I REALLY need to see to it that I pass because a lot depends on the results.

I had been out of school for a while and I'm back fired up to complete high school SUCCESSFULY. I am seeking healthy studying tips because I REALLY NEED to enhance my understanding of various concepts AS WELL as my memorising skills.

Would be happy if anyone showers me with advice...

Keep yourself hydrated. Your brain will work better if you do.

1.5 liters for a female, 2 liters for a male.

Get a bit more rest than you think you need.

I'm a final year Uni student- so I have done my fair share of studying over the years!

First work out what kind of learner you are- visual, auditory or kinesthetic. There are various online surveys you can do to find this out like the following Discover your learning style - questionnaire

Then match your studying style to your preferred method. For example, I am a visual learner, so I write my notes out in mind maps, with various colours and highlight important features. It's important to vary how you write things each time- for example- write a bullet pointed list the first time, then from memory, turn the page to landscape and write the key points in a mind map. You can write things on revision/ flash cards to test yourself (or get someone else to). Or there are lots of Youtube videos available to help with concepts- for example- I need to know how a lot of drug mechanisms work, so I watch videos on the concepts.

I know people who are auditory learners who study best by listening to recordings of lectures.

Some people prefer to work in silence but I like some background music- so classical is pretty good- I just find a Study playlist on spotify.

Write down the start and stop times of studying so you can see how much you do. Try and do it in hour long slots- so 1 hour studying, then stand up, make a cup of tea, check your phone etc and then switch it back off and do another hour.

Try to be disciplined :)

Good luck :)
