If a single woman who is not a virgin has not had a boyfriend or lover for a long time?

Posted

Doesn't bother me.

There was one woman who I saw off and on for awhile that hadn't had a lover for two years before she met me. Not only was she amazing in bed, but all her built up sexual frustration played in my favor. :D I stopped seeing her though. Neither of us had much in common except for the bedroom. Awesome woman though.

Not a problem at all with me either provided everything else about her checks out.

Frankly, that would be the least of my concerns. I would have at least 30 other things that I am worried about before that.

Not even on my radar in terms of concerns.

I was a little concerned when I met a 28 year old woman who'd never had a relationship last longer than 3 months though... ;-)

I'm a woman but why would you even ask such a Q? What motivated it? Did somebody make you feel bad for your choice to spend some time alone?

I suppose there might be somebody out there who doesn't like it but then they are simply not the right person for you.

If she's been single for awhile, perhaps she just has not met the right guy. Plus, chances are, she's not on the rebound. What's not to like?

I don't know if they are trying to make me feel bad on purpose but I often get asked why don't you have a boyfriend and how long have you been single. Makes me feel like they might think something is wrong with me.

I can totally understand why you would feel that way. The people asking you those questions most likely mean well. They ask out of curiosity or some other good-natured reason without realizing that it comes across as insult, as if there is actually something wrong with you for not dating.

I wasn't fond of the Q when it was asked of me. My standard quip was usually along the lines of I can't find a man I'm willing to have dinner with let alone date; but if you know somebody fabulous, I'm all ears. That usually shut 'em up. One of my nastier responses was something about this not being Noah's Ark and that I am not required to be part of a couple. A nicer response is a shrug and "just picky, I guess."

Try not to take it too personally. It's really not meant as a put down.

I'm a total package type of person.

This, like being asked how many partners, is not anything to go into detail about. Best to answer with a vague answer like "nothing serious in awhile. It's been a few years since I was serious about someone."

TBH, I never got into timelines. Marriage(s) and relevant children were discussed as dating proceeded into more long-term arrangements but that was about it.

It's just something people ask. Sometimes because they want to make sure you didn't break up with someone only last week.

I've never met a man who had an issue when I hadn't dated for a while. I don't think they want to feel they are in a revolving door.
