I started dating this guy about 2 and a half months ago and recently found out that he won't have sex with me while i'm on my period. I'm going iinsane! I have had three long term relaitonships before this and none of them cared. But, I'm one of those women who gets horney x 100 while I'm bleeding so this is a really big problem.

WHat I want ot know is if this is common? Do a lot of men still think that blood is too dirty to touch-even with their penis?

And, is there any hope? Is there anyway I can convince him into even sex-I'm not expecting cunniligus or anything.

P.s. I'm the first "girlfriend" he's had since middle school-but no he's not a virgin.

P.p.s. Tried masturbating and its just not the same.

Thank you for all your help.

It's darn messy, smelly and sticky. It makes fooling around on the bed (and anything else for that matter) a mad dash to the shower and the washer & drier.

I love sex, but I can wait until things are less red. :( Sorry.... I'm one of those guys too.

It sucks when you're horny during that time.

No way do I want it for that week out of the month. I know women get horny at time but I will wait and tell her to use her DD battery friend....

I must say my current partner, and previous long term boyfriends has/had no problem with it at all.

How about f*cking in the shower at that time of the month?

No muss, no fuss... or, at any rate, what there is gets washed away quickly.

Try harder :p

You have to respect his wishes and not bother him about it.

I would suggest that too. That might make him think about trying it.

thats a very good idea. Thanks for all your replies. I've realized that it is quite messy. i don't care but can understand how some people would. My shower's too small for two people--but his isn't. I think i'll try that & buy a vibrator just in case that doesn't work.

my boyfriend doesn't like it either, and because he doesn't i would feel uncomfortable trying to get him to do it.

i don't ever really need it that badly that i can't wait a few days, although i would prefer to do it daily.

he doesn't mind so much when it's allllllmost over, but during the first two days, i don't think i would like it either. i don't want to see it, and i don't want him to see it, like running down my leg or something.

it would ruin it for me and for him.

the only blood i want to see is from scratches...rawr... :D

Try a diaphragm it holds the flow back for a few hours. It is totally gross when you take it out, but it works! I too get very horny during that time of the month and found the above worked for me.

Another option is to go on a method of birth control that stops ovulation completely - that's where I am now and lemme tell you its FABULOUS!!!

My boyfriend and I have sex during menstrual and yes i am very horny around that time too. What i do is take a shower first and i stop bleeding for awhile and theres never any blood on his wang.

I guess a lot of guys are like that. Personally, I don't think I was ever really grossed out by the thought but I must admit it took a little getting used to. (My first experience that way was on our honeymoon, just 5 or 6 days after we started having sex, so maybe we were both too horney to notice much.)

Yes, it's messy. Yes, it smells - I admit to (discretely) positioning myself upwind on occasion. The shower is an interesting variant for the actual copulation if the sizes (both your size and the shower's size) permit and you're a touch athletic, but somewhat restricts foreplay and definitely short changes the afterplay (I like to cuddle at least until I'm soft inside her).

So we keep some old towels in the nightstand. A bath towel goes under her bottom - pre-positioning is an art, since we usually start with her on top and roll over during the coupling. And an old hand towel is used for the hands (of course).

Her period doesn't inhibit our fingering and screwing very much, but I have never gotten to the point where I could eat her during the height of her flow. We've agreed that neither one of us cares much for that (yes, we tried a time or two). Near the end, when she's just spotting a bit, I don't mind but not during the main event.

My BF is not all about having sex when I'm having My period.. I know this isn't something he's down for, so I don't approach him during this time and I let him know when that time is so he knows not to start something he isn't going to want to finish (uh.. so to speak)

He isn't about sex if there is any blood at all.. even at the end of the cycle.

Ask him to wear a condom, and put a towel down. See if he can do it that way. If not, give him a blow job and let him use a dildo on you...I'm a "sex is the only thing that will satisfy my hunger" type of girl, but this will satisfy me :)

Good luck, honey. He may come around eventually...if not, make sure you can live with this the rest of your life before you continue this relationship.

There are more things I would touch with my hands than I would with my penis. I won't chop vegetables naked, either.

And I don't dig sex when my girlfriend is bleeding at all. It feels gritty, and once when we were finished I got up to use the bathroom and my penis and scrotum were all bloody and that freaked me out! Sure, I knew it wasn't my blood, but the initial shock made me almost pass out. Since then, I have a phobia.

<bewildered>

I only just found out... here of all places...

Do a lot of men still think that blood is too dirty to touch

An emphatic yes, and not only that... Most women do, too!!

I'd been posting in the sexuality forum, so a link wouldn't necessarily work (look for the thread on oral sex after sex), and many weighed in on the issue of sex during a woman's period. The specific issue was oral during a period <shrugs>. It just hasn't been my experience in real life that women are freaked out by any kind of sex during their period, but this board proved to me that there are legions of them that not only are, but that apparently think blood itself is unclean.

I've never seen so many "yuk face" icons in a thread. Again, this just hasn't even close to matched my real life experience. I don't think that what you're asking -- straight sex, genital to genital contact only -- is too much to ask, and the shower is a perfect suggestion. My wife is like you, she feels most sexual during her period, and she lucked out, needless to say.

Good luck. Finding all of this out from others REALLY surprised me.
