I've heard its very important in connecting, and lack of eye contact to me = untrustworthy or uninterested

Of the highest importance...shows interest and openness.....if you dont look people in the eye.....some might or would assume you have something to hide....even if that is shyness you are hiding from....try harder.....just to hold a persons gaze a little while longer than you normally do....do that more often ....like practice it...and it will come more naturally with time and practice....and confidence......good luck..deb

It would be very difficult to make an emotional connection with someone who never makes eye contact.

If you don't overcome your shyness about eye contact then you will be stuck in 1st gear. Practice on friends and relatives.

If someone avoids eye contact, I immediately don't like them, thinking there is something wrong with them.

It's a natural instinct.

You need to be open and honest with people and look them in the eye in all human interactions.

And... if you don't look them in the eye, how will you ever know what they are thinking??

Just stare at her boobs instead, it's the most genuine form of flattery.

90% of communication is non-verbal. What you say doesn't matter as much as how you act. Eye contact is a HUGE part of that.

The eyes are used as a non-verbal and non-physical connection to someone else. It is the initial and profound means of conveying interest and establishing rapport. Without it, you don't come off genuine, sincere, and are seen as evasive or disinterested. Practice looking people in their eyes, and you'll get more confident when the times comes to look a romantic interest in the eyes.
