autumnnight Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I don't have great proportions genetically (not badmouthing my body, not at all, I wouldn't change it for the world, just being realistic) and I have cellulite. But underneath, my muscles are tight and at the end of the day my shape is a girly shape. The men I've been with admired what was right, and liked the fact that I looked feminine. And I've noticed that with my female friends too, their boyfriends always liked what was nice, either legs, butt, waist, boobs, neck. There are so many parts on a body to be liked, doesn't matter if one or two are not great. True Right now I am working on my belly and my thighs. Those seem to be the places where middle age has been trying to "settle" lol. But the mental shift and its effects is what has amazed me. About 6 years ago I decided that waiting until I fit a cookie cutter to understand my value was for the birds. I had value right then and there. And appeal, and sexiness and talent and smarts and skills (yep, a wide variety). So I ditched the high pressure outside transformation for a bit and focused on an inward one. Before I even picked the outward one back up again, I noticed being noticed exponentially more. I feel better inside and out, and even if my belly doesn't end up perfectly flat and I still have trouble wearing slim fit jeans in the thighs, I am happy. With me. And men pick up on that. 1
123321 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 .... im not sure why I get second picked then, if my question is so ridiculous, or not picked at all for that reason. I am a size 12/14. Oh, I think that's a pretty solid root cause there.
eye of the storm Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 As a woman, this is what I've observed. It is just like ice cream. To each his own. I know a guy who only dates very "large" women, another who only dates Asians, another who wants them stick thin with no curves, another who wants them to look like they should be in a body builder mag...the list goes on. Then there are the others who date all kinds with no rhyme or reason. 1
stillafool Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Really? My question is so ridiculous that men and women have come up with the term "butterbody". Or the fact that people comment all the time on Meagan Trainer's song: All About That Base, as if there is some "debate" about the topic, what's hot and what's not? Please, I purposely asked this question, because I myself, have an hourglass shape, thick legs, and a small waste, with long black hair, and a beautiful face, natural. Yet, men seem to want to talk with the petit women, with no curves at all. Yes those women are still beautiful, and so am I. On the other hand, im not sure why I get second picked then, if my question is so ridiculous, or not picked at all for that reason. I am a size 12/14. It's obvious that those particular guys go for the petite girls with athletic bodies. That's okay because there are plenty of men who go for your body type. What's the problem? Different people like different things. 3
Quiet Storm Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 There can be cultural preferences, too. (I am saying this as a petite white girl with a big butt who grew up in the hood).
Syberia Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 "Men" as a whole don't like one particular body type. If we didn't, there wouldn't be so many types of porn. I tend to prefer larger women, so long as it goes along with a cite face and they don't look "obese.". My wife is a size... 18? 20? I don't even know, but she looks much better to me now than she did when we first met and she was trying to keep herself thin. Of course, no matter how many times I've told her this, she still has it in her head that she's fat and therefore unattractive. Oh, and she'll go to a restaurant with me and actually eat something, so that's a plus! 3
Phoe Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I've been a size 2, very thin, and I've been a size 12. I'm a size 6 now, happy medium, slim but with some muscle and curve. I'm happiest with where I am right now. I never noticed a difference in men's reactions towards me no matter my size. There will always be naysayers. 1
PrettyEmily77 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I like my guy's body type to be mine; the rest can like whatever they want .
Giggle Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I'm a curvy 12/14. I'd happily be a little smaller as finding jeans that fit all this curve is frustrating but I keep getting comments on my ass. I don't get the fascination, but I'll take it. I'm going to work on dropping a size this spring simply because I have several jeans that I can't quite get into despite being the same size, brand, and style as my favorite pair. Hrmf.
jen1447 Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I love all types. Plenty of room here for curvy and slim alike. The genuine appeal's much more in the substance of the woman. 1
Anela Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Because gay men control fashion. What gay men prefer? They prefer long lean bodies with no chest and no hips, like metro men look. What heterosexual men really like has nothing to do with size 4 or size 14. A man likes an hour glass shape, more precisely an increase of 70% between waist and hips. That you can get at any reasonable size. This isn't true, though. My sister doesn't have that shape: she has a very small chest, and worked to be as small as possible. She had a pretty face and great legs, but no hourglass figure. She had men falling all over her. I have the chest, the curves, and I feel bad for women who are put down as women, for not having this shape. 1
Imported Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 It's a range, but generally slim, fit and toned.
Imported Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I have the chest, the curves, and I feel bad for women who are put down as women, for not having this shape. Come on now, we all know "real" women are "curvy" aka, most likely fat. Honestly, I think only overweight chicks think slim women look like boys and think something is wrong with guys that go for slim women instead of "real" women.

Toodaloo Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 That's me! back off I was born first... lol I would hazard a guess at a breathing body... Men are like women in that they like all sorts. No rhyme nor reason to it...
StanMusial Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I don't understand women sizes like 4 or 12 or 14. How come it is just one number, people have height and width and depth. And how can someone be size 0, wouldn't that make them invisible? If I buy a pair of pants I get 32/34 which is waist and inseam. And for shirts you have to check neck and arm and chest measurements. 1
Harold of Andraste Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Women sizes have waist and inseam as well, same with shirt sizes. I'm pretty sure the numbers like 0, and 4 are dress sizes. Of course I have no idea how the number is determined.

It makes it more confusing as different countries have different sizes. Marilyn Munroe was reportedly a size 16... Now that is a UK 14... However if she were a UK 16 that would be a US 18... My legs are longer than yours - I have to get a 36" leg and I am only 5ft5... they don't look long though as I have thunder thighs and a big bottom... My waist is also smaller by about 2 inches - however because of my blobby bits I have to wear clothes that are loose around the waist to accommodate boobs and thighs. Curvy often looks fat in clothes... 1
PaperCrane Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Petite and slim are my favorite. I have to add I guess...body personality. The way a girl moves. I like the confidence mixed with a little bit of dorkiness. No real preference on chest size as long as they don't kill me, or on the posterior as long as there is something there. Nice legs though...oooph, those are killers right there.
thefooloftheyear Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Something like this... Or something more modern........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoz9MxJDxZk TFY

I'm going to work on dropping a size this spring simply because I have several jeans that I can't quite get into despite being the same size, brand, and style as my favorite pair. Hrmf. Same here! I deal with the same thing with jeans. It's hard to find ones that are comfortable, and now the fashion has shifted from bootcut jeans that are loose in the leg area to 'skinny jeans' and 'jeggings' which are NOT good on me. If they fit in the legs and butt, they're a few inches loose in the waistline. Now that summer will be here in a few months I'm going to want to live in maxidresses. they are very cute and flattering. At size 12/14, I can shop in both departments (straight and plus) and find things. Unlike you I don't get ass comments, (at least that I know of) but my husband is a very boobs-focused man. I'm only a C cup and I carry most of my weight lower. You'd think I'd be married to a 'butt' man instead! To the OP- Seriously, why start these threads? I agree there is a pot for every lid. Look around, there are couples of all different body types with each other. Typically, (unfortunately) the handsomest or higher-class men ARE with slender girls. I think it is cultural, because of what society dictates and so men want the arm candy that fits their image. Something I saw about a decade ago reinforces my theory. I was on a trip out East to see my cousin, and we went to a Sunday service at her friend's Mennonite church in Ohio. My cousin was in the nursery watching the babies and toddlers, and I found her chatting with a young mom, who was picking up her baby. The young mom was a heavier girl, who would probably be considered pretty without the weight. She was, I'd guess, a size 20, with a long skirt, little white bonnet, no makeup, the conservative Mennonite attire. She mentioned her husband was coming with their son. Now- I expected her husband to also be overweight, or plain looking, because of that thing called 'leagues' that's always talked of here. My jaw just about dropped when here comes this GORGEOUS hunk of a Mennonite farmer boy in his late 20's! I remember he had movie-star like features, and he must've raised a good amount of barns because his biceps were definitely showing through his polo shirt. He was carrying their little toddler boy. They looked happy, and in love! It was one of the first times I've seen proof that leagues aren't always the case, and I wonder if the husband's old-fashioned cultural upbringing (read: no media images of skinny models) was the reasoning behind it. It made me a little envious of those Mennonite wives to be honest!
