andie1969 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 So a little back story, I ended a 13 year marriage last year and just recently got back into the dating game. Met a guy on match about 6 weeks ago, saw each other once a week for the first 3 weeks, but emailed/texted almost daily, not a lot, we both definitely prefer to speak in person. Then started hanging out 2/3 times a week, we have so much in common. I last saw him last Tuesday, he asked me out to dinner, then went for a few drinks at another place, everything seemed fine. Since then the communication really stalled and his replies were very short. So Friday evening I sent a text just asking if he was ok, that I know his work has been crazy and just wanted to make sure everything was cool. His reply, “yea I’m fine. I’ve just been thinking and not sure if we are in the same place with all of this”. Ok then… I just replied back telling him I appreciate his honesty and to let me know if he’d like to talk about it since we obviously aren't quite clear on what the other wants. I also said I’d hate to just walk away due to a misunderstanding. No reply back yet… No contact on Saturday then I was weak on Sunday and sent a Happy Easter text, he replied, thanks, you too. That's it...nothing since and it's only Tuesday and I'm going crazy! The thing is, he pursued me, I wasn't really into him until after the 3rd date or so, then really started to get to know him and like him. And now this? We are both divorced, I'm 45, he's 41 so we are not young dumb kids. Yes, I've ramped up my workouts, got up at 5 this morning to take a new class. Hopefully this will help get him out of my mind. I KNOW it's only been 6 weeks, but like a lot of you, there was great chemistry, such and ease of being together, then BAM... Thanks for reading...just had to rant about this somewhere.
d0nnivain Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Welcome to the wonderful world of dating as an adult. It will get better but people do flake off OLD.
Author andie1969 Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Dating as an adult sucks! The crappy thing too is he lives 4 miles from me and we frequent a lot of the same places. From past experiences I've found it's so much easier to mentally move on if there is more physical distance.
Author andie1969 Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Just posting here so that I don't break nc and text him! It's only been 3 days, but ugh, it still sucks! I bought 2 tickets to a baseball game for this Sunday and was planning on asking him to go, then he pulled that crap. Of course I'd still love to go with him and it's killing me not to text him and ask him to go, but I know it would crush me if he said no, soooo I'm getting it out here and will find a friend to go with me.
Author andie1969 Posted May 16, 2015 Author Posted May 16, 2015 Update! So guess who I heard from last night after 6 weeks of NC? I haven't replied and not sure if I will, going to sit on it for a while. And wouldn't you know it, I got the text while on a 2nd date with a really nice guy I just met... "And there's the rub"
Ruby65 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Yeah, forget this guy. Sounds like he dropped you to pursue someone else, then things didn't work out with her. What a prize. Glad to hear you were out on a date with a NICE guy!! 2
aloneinaz Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 As a guy, when I disappear after dating a girl for the time you two dated, it meant that I found someone I liked better and obviously lost interest in her. If he reappeared, he must be in a dry spot in his dating and said "screw it", I'll see if this gal will reply to fill the void till the dating improves. I'd ignore him. I had girls pull that on me when I was single. They got ignored. That's what's great about the dating sites, there's so many others looking for a normal, loving relationship. You just have to kiss a lot of frogs to find that prince. 3
