Can we inject a little bit of style in a man we date?

I am not going to pursue it.

He also needs a good professional teeth cleaning. The plaque build up on his bottom teeth was off putting, that plus the wraggy clothes, sigh.....He's 47, probably makes 65K per year, no reasons for him to look so neglected.

Maybe it is the "I am a poor helpless man, I need a woman to take care of me" look.

Someone to choose my clothes, wash and iron them for me and make dental appointments...

Don't make it sound like a challenge, I am bored enough to take it lol

I think 47 is probably a bit too old to expect much of a change unless he gets a woman who is willing to basically take over his wardrobe.

I have made over boyfriends. I do it when their clothes detracts from their looks. I once dated a gorgeous guy who wasn't a fashion plate but had just enough basic style to go with his movie star looks. He was also super picky. I left him alone.

Anyway, I start with buying them nice stuff (nothing OTT - just a couple of nice expensive tees). Then graduate to taking them shopping. It's always a fist-pump moment when I get them to see the miracle that is a truly decent pair of jeans.

The grooming and hygiene stuff is something else altogether, and frankly I wouldn't stick around. All of the guys I've been with have been sort of, um, super clean. Teeth are trickier - as long as they don't have bad breath or really unsightly stuff I let that go. Heck, most guys floss more than I do.

Okay..so now that we've established you and Gaeta aren't right for each other.....:bunny: :bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::

Exactly - Gaeta and this guy aren't right for each other either. Never date someone wanting to change them. Either you accept them as is, or you don't.

I always have the best luck with women when I just follow my natural urges, no matter how insane they may seem to an outside party. So if you feel like taking him shopping then take him shopping for your second date. Make the dentist the third.

If it doesn't work out you just end up right back where you are now, thinking of not pursuing it. And if it does then you both win.

Honey some blokes are just useless at these things.

Mention it and take him shopping. If you do it right he will enjoy the attention!

I got this far into the thread and then after the second paragraph in this post my head went "I seriously want a bright orange t-shirt!".

No seriously, I'm off to find one, and I'll be damned if I care who likes it!

I had a first date with a chap who was wearing orange slacks yesterday... I really fancy him...

...and liked the slacks! :D

Sorry Geata... I was also given vouchers for a new bag at my local feed store... Its actually a gun bag but I don't have a handbag and I love it... Yeah know!!! Really need to start reading Cosmo or something... I think I would die if someone gave me a make over...!!!

You are looking at this all the wrong way, if he makes 65K and he is not going to be wasting money buying fancy clothes for himself; all the more for you to spend...

I agree.

Seriously some of us are to put it bluntly bloody useless at this whole getting dressed lark...

For example. I am still wearing jeans that fall down round my ankles and are far too big for the simple reason that I can't find any I like, I hate shopping and will probably loose more weight soon any way so whats the point?

Take him shopping and make a fuss of him...

I may have to get my orange slacks man to take me shopping lol!!!
