bob the brave Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Ok, it's a bit over dramatic and mushy, but what can you expect from a 21 year old Victorian era woman? It amazes me how someone so young, so privileged and not bad looking could so well understand the pain of lost love, rejection and ostracism. She described my life quite accurately in so many ways. Since I was a lad, I always had great empathy for those cursed by physical inequities or the victims of ignorance of tribal or gang affiliation allowing those that are different such as by skin color to be treated unfairly. The resulting trial that life becomes, the persecution, the bullying, the rejection...totally and unequivocally unjustified by other than natural laws. I always protected them, sometimes at my own peril, comforted them, befriended them as whole persons worthy of respect based on their own merits of spirit. I believed in mankind, it's future. Maybe I was too young, to busy to notice that I, too, was a victim. At first I discounted such events as most would, held up my chin and bullied forward certain tomorrow would be better. Now there are too many dark yesterdays to ignore, no reason to expect a brighter tomorrow. I won't bore you with the many accounts that would shock you, shame you and break your heart if you own one. I have sadly learned, though there are scant 'good' spirits running about, we are far, far out numbered. Just for example, Ghandi and Martin Luther King were assassinated, as was Abraham Lincoln and Anwar Sadat. They weren't too nice to Jesus Christ either. There is a poignant line in the last Rambo film where missionaries approach Rambo to guide them into the jungle to help villagers in a Burmese war zone. Rambo tells them, "You won't change anything. You can't change what is." Believing in mankind was a fools dream. I have fought the last couple of years to find something, anything to which to cling. But the light has now faded and my grip grows weak. The darkness has set in and the man I once was is gone. I miss that guy and I fear what this man may do. Edited April 4, 2015 by bob the brave
