What is up with texting rather than calling?

Seldemer,

Sounds like our guys were brothers, lol; that is except in person my guy wouldn't ask me much about myself. He also would only ask me generic questions via text like, 'how was your weekend?' It was weird. Yet, we still had the connection in person.

I can't really make sense of it, and would like to forget it ever happened, because all it did was cause much confusion and make me question so much.

That's cool that you're not traditional with your approach. We all have our own way when it comes to dating...

^^ya I want to forget it ever happened too because it was all so confusing, he pretty much disappeared on me anyway (after saying he had a fun time on our last date and kissed me goodnight) he just stopped initiating any sort of communication after that...so yeah. Odd situation to say the least

And yeah everyone has to follow their own way of dating, different stroked for different folks :). whatever works for you and makes you feel good, and that way if whatever your style (traditional or not) you will get the man that understands and appreciates that and will naturally fit that role for you.

I would think the reason they text instead of call is to not waste much of their time. They know if they call the conversation is going to last alot longer than a text and they don't want to invest the time.

Yeah, but if you consider it a waste of time, what does that say about why they are pursuing the woman at all?

Okay, I definitely need to meet a guy like you, for real. You have helped give me some hope, so thank you.

Yes, I have also read of in-depth convos being had over text, and actually fell into that trap with the last guy I was seeing... and I don't like that it got to that point, because it's so not me. I allowed it to become an acceptable form of communication, and I'm disappointed in myself, and it's now made it a bit confusing for me because whereas before this last person, I rarely texted, now I find that I do so more often, and I don't like that. I want to return to my hardly-ever-text ways from before I met him.

Well, hopefully I come across someone like you soon. ;)

Why thank you. :)

But I suspect it has more to do with dating background and confidence more than anything else. For every ten guys that write you online, 7 or 8 will probably be socially awkward and afraid to approach women in real life. So they'll want to email longer and then text when they get your number.

I get a woman's number after two emails if I get a good vibe. "It's been great getting to know you so far. But now I'd like to talk with you and hear the sound of your voice. So let's do our next email over the phone. What's your number and a good day to talk?" Then when I get her number, I send her one text so she has mine. Then when she responds, I reconfirm the time to talk and call her then. But the reason why I say "next email exchange" is because it gives me an out. If I don't like the call, I'm not locked into making plans.
