What comes after both parties filing their answer for divorce? both of us said yes and agreed to it. Does it go to court or does it get granted?

It depends on where you live.

If it's an uncontested divorce & you filed the proper paper work, I think you or your lawyers still have to show up in the courthouse but it's a matter of it being granted not having to prove you're entitled to it.

I live in Pennsylvania. My divorce (this was 4+ yrs ago) took roughly 2 weeks. He and I signed the papers and that was it. Never had to physically go to court. I met with my lawyer only once to read over the divorce settlement and that was it.

Here in Cali, at our court, petitioner files, respondent responds or lets the 30 days response period run, then the cooling off period runs, 6 months from filing/service. In our case, even if in agreement, uncontested, MSA filed, all said and done, the dissolution would not be granted until six months after filing, minimum.

The good news is the process for divorce in almost any jurisdiction here in the US (unknown for other countries) is available for free on the internet or in person at the local court. Most have family law staff and clerks to handle such matters. Our court had a self-help division besides having all the processes clearly spelled out in a step-by-step fashion on the court's web site. By comparison to the details of working out the divorce between the parties, the process was easy, IME.
