fireflywy Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Well, it has been a month and a half. Two weeks ago, I made a donation to St. Judes Childrens hospital in honor of my father who passed away due to complications of leukemia last year. Today, I received a card showing the donation in his name. While I've had my tough moments these last two months, tonight I cried not over a woman whom I wasn't meant to be with and who ultimately didn't want to make things work, but for my father who, in his days of illness, was weary of my ex and told me long ago that she wasn't the one. He was right in the end. Funny how loved ones see clearly when we are unable to. Anyways, I know that my pain over the break up is real, but seeing the faces of sick children on that card and thinking of families who may face DEVASTATING loss, is an important perspective. If any of you want to take a moment and direct your energies into something positive, and give a small gesture of compassion that will MATTER to someone in ways you can't even BEGIN to imagine, you can make a difference. Anyway, just something to think about.
BlackbirdSong Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 My sincere condolences for your loss. I have lost many family members and nothing (even breakups) comes close to that pain. God bless you and your family. 1
Author fireflywy Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Thank you. I lost him last February. Having that card sent to me, was a reminder of his words and how you can still make differences in the world if you look beyond yourself. 1
