Or is this uncommon? Wouldn't most guys meet up for coffee, dinner first, then meet with friends on the second date?

In the US I would agree, but in many Euro countries dating is done in group settings. In fact, some never "date" and never have a "boyfriend" they just hang out and romantic things happen. Anyway, if it's a girl he will be meeting for the first time then it could be strange. However, if they are already acquaintances who are going on their first date then it would fine to me. That being said, I recently took a girl to a meetup for a first date, sort of! I met her an hour before the meetup so we could chat a bit, then we joined the meetup for the rest of the evening.

mammasita Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I don't think meeting with friends is even a 2nd date activity. The first month (at the very least) or two should be one on one IMO. Meeting with friends is something you do in high school.
