Gloria25 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Lol, late nite the other nite I saw this commercial for a cougar dating site and just have to share... Now, I'm approaching 40 and not a fan of cougars. I mean, there is a sense of excitement that comes with taking a younger guy and "breaking him in" by teaching him a thing or two...but I believe most cougars are chasing the fountain of youth by seeking out waaay younger guys. Anywho, in the commercial a younger chick tells a guy: 'So, you're just an IT geek?'....then the cougar comes over and says: 'And you fold clothing for a living' (implying the chick just works at a Gap store or something)... And then, the younger chick tells the guy like: 'Hey, are you gonna buy me a drink?'....then the cougar pushes her out of the way and says: 'I'll buy you a drink' and the guy gives a "thumbs-up"... Something sexy about an experienced woman who knows what she wants, right? I think men, regardless of age can appreciate that. Eh, but still again, when I was younger....I still wasn't wet behind the ears like some of these chicks are now a days (maybe cuz I had to grow up quicker?). 1
gaius Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Is she gonna take me home and bang me with a strap on after she buys me a drink? I've always loved older women, and there is something very sexy about it, but they don't need to turn into the guy if they date younger. I think that's one of the perceptions that turn a lot of them off to it. 3
MrMeh Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 An attractive cougar coming up to me and whispering something sexy would arouse the hell out of me. One of these days... P.S- I also would not mind free drinks!
SolG Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I have a 50-ish yo friend that is a cougar extraordinaire. She's a person trainer; in incredibly good shape and looks much younger than she is. She had THREE dates on Valentine's Day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. She tells me she finds it incredibly difficult to find men her own age that she's physically attracted to. And we all know what happens in a relationship when you're not attracted to your partner; it's kind of an inevitable show stopper. And when she does find one she finds appealing... Well, he's generally taken. So, she's having her fun in cougarville until she finds that more age appropriate guy that she finds viable relationship-wise. And she is having a hell of a lot of fun!
autumnnight Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I've seen that commercial too, Gloria. I always wonder, when she takes off that little dress and its amenities....exactly ho far does everything drop. Bwahahaha Just kidding, but really. Honestly, I cannot fathom what I would find appealing about a 25 year old. That is not a slam against 25 year olds. But I mean, surely you have to have some conversation. I'm reminded of the scene in When Harry Met Sally where Harry is extolling the virtues of his younger woman. He then says, "Of course, when I asked her where she was when Kennedy was shot, she said 'Ted Kennedy was shot?!?'" Yeah, that 3

Eh, but still again, when I was younger....I still wasn't wet behind the ears like some of these chicks are now a days (maybe cuz I had to grow up quicker?). I think it underscores a deeper issue; in this commercial, the young lady is dissing the guy for what she perceives to be a lame job he has and expects him to buy her a drink simply because she's a woman. The older woman sees through that nonsense and approaches the man and offers HIM a drink instead. I would go for the older woman in a heartbeat in that situation. Not because she's older, but because she isn't an entitled princess. She knows that a guy working in IT is probably making good money and doesn't need someone to take care of him. She's also more likely to have her own established career too, and recognizes that the IT guy probably has the same. It's not about what the guy can offer the woman, it's about what the woman can offer the guy...which is something that is virtually never discussed or mentioned in today's mainstream media. 3
lgspot Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Funny you posted this today. I just saw my doctor. Her "out of white coat" personality is much the same as your writing style. She's former military. We were just laughing about the cougar thing. She's 41 and her H is 29 and a bodybuilder. Gives me lots of fodder for jokes with her... Maybe you'll have to find a few cubs... I'm more of the dirty old man.... Not many commercials for us:) and nobody buying us drinks... 2

preraph Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I am so lucky because when I was in my 30s dating younger guys, they hadn't yet invented the word "cougar," so they just had to say "Preraph always has younger men panting after her." 4

I'm in relationship with a man who is 13 years younger than me. Not something either of us planned or expected but it happened and it works really well. Not all men are created equal. I came to learn this the more I opened myself up to dating men of all ages (legal of course). Age is just another too. Another lovely factoid I came to understand more and more. It's about emotional maturity and respect and common interest. That's the basis for any great relationship. Personally I HATE the word cougar as well. Very predatory and being a mother to boys, that feels even more cringe-worthy. 4
