Military Lovers...

Recommended Posts

I'm watching ID and they brought up this topic, which I have pondered now and then...

People usually are attracted to others who have similar traits, experiences, etc.

I find myself usually interested in people who have served in our military. While I have dated people who never served I think I sorta prefer someone who has at some point served.

Now, I am not a "dependa" (pleeeze) and/or some type of military groupie (double pleeeze). I guess being a veteran is a reason for this?

Any opinions, comments, experiences?

Hey Goria :-) What's a 'dependa'?

Per the "urban dictionary",

Top Definition

Dependa

A person who is married to someone in the service who doesn't just depend on their spouse for financial support, but pretty much relies on them for it. They start out all cute and All-American until after the wedding, then it's like cookies, couch and coach purses. Arguing with other dependas over Facebook all day over who's the bigger dependa. They're generally not educated and have no goals or aspirations in life. They live their lives through their husband's successes and think they rank and are better than "civilians" when they themselves are in face...still civilians.

You can usually find them at the PX and/or commissary like a herd of cattle during every pay period blowing their spouse's paycheck on oreos, Coach and Michael Kors and then complaining 2 days after "they" got paid that they're broke and need someone to deliver them free diapers for their 6th baby. (also see "dependa-twat", "dependasaurus" and "dependapotomus")

-"My husband and I just got married last month, what are some websites that give free stuff to military wives?"

--"Shut up dependa."

-"I got married to My Marine, he's going to take care of me now. No more working at Taco Bell for this girl!"

 I didn't end up joining, but when I was visiting MEPs they warned us about women like that. Thought he was exaggerating about how many would knock themselves up just to secure a military paycheck but I guess he wasn't.

Shared experiences create intimacy so it makes sense Gloria. I always wanted an ex of mine to use an airport I spent a lot of time at just once so she'd know what I was talking about, but she'd only use a smaller regional one closer by and it actually became a thing. As weird as that sounds.

By the way, I got excited when I saw ID on my new cable package after I switched this week since you've talked it up so much.
