ryan291 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 So I joined this site just to ask these questions. There are three girls at the college I go to that I think may have an interest in me. I am terrible at reading signs. In the past I never really dated because I didn't want to. I am at a point in my life where I am now open to the idea of dating. As a result, I never had the opportunity to learn how things work. Girl #1: We were introduced about a month ago via a mutual acquaintance. She immediately commented that she loved my hair (I have very long rocker/metal type hair). We were introduced and shook hands. She then commented on my handshake. Ever since then whenever I see her in school she will pass by me and act like she doesn't notice me. I think she actually does but is pretending. I'm not sure though. She will sit down somewhere and a little later will walk past me and say something simple like, "hi, how are you?" She does this often. She has also sat near me one time a couple weeks ago in the cafeteria and offered me some of her candy. The other day I was sitting in the cafeteria and she comes up from behind me, unbeknownst to me, and taps me on the shoulder as she walks by and says "hi" while waving to me. I immediately said "hi" back but she kept on walking and sat down at the table with her friends. I have a strong feeling with her that she likes me. Girl #2: I have never met this girl before, however I see her in the hall and the library all the time. I noticed that she always sits near me and tends to glance over at me often. I have tried adjusting where I usually sit slightly as a test and when she ends up coming around (she and I seem to have the same time between classes off) she usually sits near me. As in, a few seats down from me. I'm really not sure with her. Girl #3: This is a new one as of today. It perplexes me because she is typically not the type of girl that I would think to be interested in me. I am open to a lot of types of girls, but I know my style (rocker/metalhead) is a somewhat niche type of partner that a girl would be looking for. The prior two girls are of the alternative type so it would make sense for them to possibly be into me. This girl seems somewhat preppy. She sits in front of my in a class that I have. She appears to be a very quiet and shy/reserved person. I have never heard her utter a single word until today. I got into the class first and sat in my usual seat. She comes up to her seat and puts her stuff down. She gives a small stretch and looks at me and simply says, "how are you doing?". I was totally caught off guard because I have never heard her speak before to anyone else in the class or to raise her hand in class. I promptly responded with, "I'm good, how about you?" As I am saying it she is in the process of turning back around to sit down and doesn't respond back. This is a tough one for me to decide. Thus why I am asking for input. Thanks for any help.
Buddhist Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 They all want into your pants. Or maybe they are just behaving like normal people and you know, being friendly or whatever.
Author ryan291 Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 They all want into your pants. Or maybe they are just behaving like normal people and you know, being friendly or whatever. Well that's what I'm trying to decipher. Just being friendly or genuinely interested.
Buddhist Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 There is no enough evidence to conclude anything other than platonic interest in all three cases. Just because a female looks at you or says hello does not automatically mean they want you.
Echo74 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Instead of us trying to guess what these gals may or may not be thinking, why don't you try and get to know them a bit. At some point if you feel like you're clicking with one of them, ask if she'd like to have lunch/snack (whatever) some time.
Gary S Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Girl number 1 probably likes you... she tapped you on the shoulder, touching is a good sign. The compliment she gave you on your appearance, your hair, is a big sign. Don't bother speculating on their type, you have no idea what their type is. Just practice trying to read their body language, eyes, and facial expressions and how they act around you, like a poker player. The other two need to be observed for a longer period of time. I'd just wait for a while and see if one asks you to hangout. If they are asking you, if they are the ones making the moves, there is zero chance of rejection. Crushes develop over time. Patience pays. 1
fitnessfan365 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Why do some guys always need assurance of particular "signs" before they make a move? If you want to know if a girl likes you, walk up, be direct, and ask her out. If she accepts you have your answer. 1

I will feel the other ones out over the next few of weeks.

Buddhist Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Honest question - Why do you want to invest/waste two weeks of your time when you could just ask them out and know right away? Because he's very likely an introvert.
GemmaUK Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I agree with Gary. Don't just ask out. Observe for a good while. Girl #1 I would say she is interested and wants you to feel comfortable about chatting to her and interacting with her the same way as she is doing with you. Don't go asking out right away though. Get to know her a bit. Asking out right away can scare a person off when they did have interest. Something to watch out for is if when she sits with her friends does she sit so she can still see you? Does she glance your way? Does she laugh a little louder or speak a little louder and then glance your way to see if you have noticed her? Does she preen or stretch and again, glance your way?
GemmaUK Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Because he's very likely an introvert. And introverts are OK. I prefer dating introverts to extroverts. Introverts are not consistently introverted whereas most extroverts I know are consistently extroverted.
fitnessfan365 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Because he's very likely an introvert. I'm definitely more of an introvert in an extrovert shell. But I'm also practical, and a realist. So instead of wasting weeks acting like a spy and trying to gather "intel', I'd rather just cut to the chase and ask her out. In these situations where he thinks there's a good chance all three may like him, all the observing in the world won't matter until he just pulls the trigger.
Gary S Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Fitnessfan.... we go in dates to get them around us so they can fall in love, when we would never see them again otherwise. He is in school, they have to be there, they see him everyday (or at least every week, that's enough). He plays to a captive audience. Plus, he is saving his money and avoiding rejection at the same time. How cool is that School, groups and classes are the very best ways to meet someone, crushes develop naturally.
