LookAtThisPOst Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Sometimes, usually with the local ladies, I tend to send follow-up emails like a month later if they haven't responded. One thing about OK Cupid it says when you "Last Contacted" them. After all, some emails do get overlooked in the mix of the ton of emails these women get. Sometimes this DOES get a response and even a date.
Moy Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Interesting, as I always follow the ethos of if they don't consider you worthy of a reply, then they weren't worthy of the initial message and move on.
gaius Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Laid back persistance, it can pay off like I said. When I did OLD for a month I'd run into a few of the short answer women people here always complain about and I'd just plow foward with conversation, wouldn't intimidate me. And I'd get them talking eventually and a number to go with it. 1
Superman2024 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Yes, persistence can pay off sometimes on OLD. I've found it typically works best to wait until the first message has been automatically deleted (typically 30 days). I just send another one as if we've never communicated. Why not do it since there's nothing to lose? 1
carhill Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Why not do it since there's nothing to lose? Unless it's copy and paste canned messages, minutes of one's life they'll never get back. Back when I did OLD, contacts were thoughtful, sincere and unique, so a lack of a reply was handled essentially the same as a verbal 'no' to asking a woman out on a date in person. By that point I had long experimented with persistence and abandoned it as a waste of time for myself. Dates, relationships and a wife resulted from women who were unambiguous in their response. Anything else never went anywhere.
Superman2024 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I know this is unusual but there was one woman I messaged once a month for three months without a reply. When she finally did reply it was the best and most intelligent OLD conversation I've ever had. Unfortunately the distance between us was a bit too much so we never met. Great conversation though!

I guess I don't have a problem with it as I know the options in this town are quite unappealing to whatever women I feel that are my type. (Meaning have all their teeth, good education, don't weigh the same as a dump truck, etc). Edited March 11, 2015 by LookAtThisPOst
