spicerp Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 To anyone knowledgeable about Internet Dating: I spend weeks on an Internet Dating website, sending winks and messages to many women in my chosen area (up to 25 miles away). I get no responses. I then expand the chosen area to 50 miles away. Within minutes of doing so I get a message from a woman with not too many details on her profile, but the short message says: 'I'm looking for romance online: how about you?' Sound like a scammer?
Author spicerp Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Forgot to mention: the woman lives 40 miles from me. The approach just seems unnaturally forward to me.
Auspecial Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 This is an example of why internet dating is so inherently flawed. No response = no date Too direct response = no date You can't even begin to assume motivations from people whom you don't even know whether or not they exist.
d0nnivain Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 It's hard to ascribe any motive to that response. It could be a scam. She could be socially awkward. English might not be her 1st language. Keep your eyes open but what harm will it do to write back once?
Gary S Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 What you have there is a catfish. At least she, he, or "it" told you up front. That's right, you'll never even know if it's a girl if you never meet.
