I've reached the point where I would rather be single and dateless than continue with OLD. I deleted all my profiles, and haven't looked back. OLD is a terrible way to meet people. It's awkward and impersonal. You never know who these people are from reading their profile or looking at their photo, and it feels like wasted time when you spend days chatting with someone only to meet and find there's no attraction at all there. I also think OLD can be a terrible crutch: I think I turned to it in the first place because I wasn't consistently putting myself out there in real life, doing the things I enjoy doing, and sitting at home in front of a computer screen wasn't helping. I think I'm more likely to meet someone who is well-balanced that way than by prowling the internet.

Agreed. Thankfully I'm currently in a relationship but I have wondered what I'd do if I were to end up single again - would I return to OLD or not?

Despite having had success whilst online and met some really nice guys (and some wackadoos), the thought of returning to that particular genre makes me shudder

Been there and done that and have all the postcards.

I think if life were to change my relationship status I'm pretty confident I'd opt out of OLD entirely and focus more on staying busy with the things that make me happy and work at meeting men more organically.

Is it worth it? In my current opinion, NO.

I had tinder. I've been on dates with 3 guys. First guy I'd actually probably be friends with, but in terms of how we view relationships we're not compatible.

Second date was a really nice guy, but there's no personality common ground, so it wouldn't work.

Third guy, the attraction, the chemistry, the personalities, the interests, it was all there. Starting seeing each other. He's been nothing but wonderful to me, and I REALLY liked him. And he just announced to me night before last his ex wants a second chance, and he's "not sure what to do".

So yeah. That's my online dating experience. Not worth it.
