I posted about my first date with a medical resident a few days ago:

Anyways I decided to text today, it went like this:

ME (11:53am): Hope you're surviving your weekend ;) Found this pretty funny [link to a YouTube video on a topic we can both relate to]

HIM (12:04pm): Haha! I just watched that last night. It's so good.

ME (2:17pm): Yeah, it was great. Just got out of a Dirty Dancing flash mob rehearsal! helping to promote the musical, so fun.

HIM (2:32pm): Oh awesome! That sounds like a lot of fun.

^ He grew up doing all sorts of dance styles and still enjoys dancing.

Anyways that was it.. he answered pretty fast but no questions and no effort to make convo. I feel the flash mob could have sparked quite a few questions if he was interested.

I don't plan on texting again. Does he seem uninterested to you/just being nice?

If he doesn't ask you out on a date = not interested.

Given the circumstances and what I know of medical residency, 'not interested' may have nothing to do with you personally, but simply insufficient interest to carve a hole in a resident's crazy schedule to date with any regularity.

I think that texting beats around the bush.

If I wanted to see you again and you sent me a text, I'd comment on what you sent and then cut right to the chase asking you out again.

Well I couldn't help but notice you didn't ask him any questions either...

He may be thinking the same thing about you.

I do however agree with the poster who said if he's not asking you out, he's not interested in dating you...which could have nothing to do with you....but just the nature of being a busy resident, who barely have time to sleep, let alone go on dates!

Then again...he is free today obviously... so who knows.

He may be just free enough to slip in a text her and there. I've never met a resident who was totally free. Always getting called in to cover for someone, or see a cool case.

OP, it was your plan to shoot him a a casual text. You've done it, now wait for him to ask you out.

He did tell me he wasn't looking forward to this weekend bc he was working the whole time, so i'm pretty sure he just happened to have some downtime.

Yeah, I think I made it clear i'm interested by initiating a text ( I don't do that to guys I don't care to see again). So I feel the ball is in his court now.

wouldn,t say he is not interested but he could just be a very boring person

A lot of women do this and it cracks me up every time they come up with some innocuous excuse to hint their interest. That's why whenever I get a random text after a date, I tease her and cut to the chase. "Definitely one of the more creative excuses I've seen to get a date out of me. ;-) When are you free?"

But even though it should be common sense for a guy to take the lead and ask you out, some guys are really dense.

I guess these days, you might have to go through a lot of guys to find one who is man enough to pick up the phone and call you to ask you out. Then, you also have to find one you actually like

Texting is one of the worst forms of communication known to man.
