bluebear2364 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I'm 22, and 've never had a girlfriend, but I would like to date. The problem is, I can't find a potential girl! I mean, I have lots of friends who are girls, but I don't think they like me enough to be somewhat more serious than friendship. I must admit, I'm not like your 22 year-old male. I love the theatre, CSI, dramas/romances (I *hate* The Matrix!) and Everybody Loves Raymond--all things not typically associated with masculinity. I prefer bourbon and Guinness, I like hockey--those are the "guy" things. I do treat my girl friends (note the space between) very well. I wish them well on birthdays, go out to a few dinners together, and we hang out a lot, but none I consider a girlfriend. Will I ever meet a girl? Truth be told, I love someone more mature women. But it's hard to find a "mature" woman my age. I prefer one who doesn't love to get drunk whenever she can, etc... For instance, I would pick Renee Zellweger, or Michelle Pfeiffer (of course, not at their age!)... Any advice you can give me on finding a girlfriend? Or am I too demanding?
Vicereine Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I know how you feel, though I was younger (19) when I had my first bf, at the time I wondered what was wrong with me as there are many younger people dating lots (hell my 13yr old brother has had more relationships than me!). You say that you don't think they are intersted in you that way, but are you interested in any of them? I am by no means an expert here lol but if there is someone you like you could either be bold and flat out ask for a date or be a little more subtle and flirt a bit. I actually met my bf (now ex) online, I am 20 now and have yet to date any guys I have known in person first. It is easy to get discouraged but it will happen one day! I know people have mixed reviews on it, but there is the possibility of searching online for someone too.

Ask your "girl"friends if they have any friends you might like. Ask them for advise out meeting new women. My "girl"friends, and my sisters, think it's cute as hell and they do give good advise. Do you go to school? classmates are great for dates. Ask them to coffee or the theater as friends and see where it goes. Don't worry to much, My best friend never had so much as a first date until he was 26, then he asked a girl in one of his classes if she'd like to go for a ride on his motorcycle. 1 year later they are now engaged.
