I'm tired of all these depressing stories and threads. Let's hear something funny or cute! And of course the critical question, did it work?

The kitchy stuff is very hard to pull off. It's rehearsed so doesn't ring true.

The one time it sort of worked on me I was in a bar & a woman came in selling roses. My crush was in the bar that night & I had been not so subtly staring at him all night but not talking to him because back then I was very shy. Anyway he bought me a rose & said something cheesy like a beauty for a beauty. Nothing happened that night. A few months later we went for a drive. I let him use me in the sense that he's snap his fingers & I would always be up for some last minute hang out thing. He took me on one date once & then pressured me for sex which finally made me see him as the cad he is.

When I was 20, I was at the computer lab in school and this guy asked me for my email address, he said something like he needed another email address so he can send some sort of chain email for good luck. Well, he emailed me a few days later and asked if I wanted to go out with him.

Guys always kept it simple and straight forward.....don't need no song and dance to have me say yes to a date.

I was at a museum one time and a guy came over to me, handed me a rolled up piece of paper and said, "my mate really fancies you", smiled then walked away. Anyway I opened it and the guy did a sketch of me and wrote his phone number at the bottom. I texted him saying thanks for the drawing, we got talking and turns out the guy who gave me the drawing was the one who fancied me... man he was cute

I use to work for an accounting firm and did taxes for people who owned corporations so the returns could get complex. I helped my boss with this one guys return and after they were done he sent the office flowers signed to me and my boss. She said it was strange and unlike him but I thought nothing of it because it's not uncommon for people to get a gift for their accountant. The next day he called the office and I answered and he told me who he was and asked me if I wanted to get lunch with him. I wasn't able to because I was moving across the country in a week but it's something I will probably remember for a long time :)

Back in the days when I was an art student free and careless and 17, I sat down and made a drawing of a guitar player, got up and walked away. Three blocks down the street the guitar player catches up with me with a handful of change asking me if I would have coffee with him. I was getting over my first love and he had bad teeth and we had a very long walk and chat and he was really interesting but I declined the next date.

A year or so later I bumped into someone I know at a pub and she started telling me about her current crush, how he is the smartest guy at uni and how he travelled the whole of Europe hitchhiking and so on and then pointed him out to me, and it was the same guy, looking very neat. I regretted rejecting him.

One chap was talking to my dog, making a fuss of her etc and she shoved her tongue down his throat.

He asked if I would go out with him because I had better breath.

I don't know if that counts as cute but it amused me. :)

ETA - my dog was right he was a good kisser!
