This girl who I hardly know invited me out for her birthday. You may say shes invited everyone and anyone but I checked the event page she made and it's got about 5 boys on it and about 25 girls. - I can't be the 6th boy that she's closest to in her social circle!

She texted me before she made the page to see if I was on it as well.

I reckon she likes b/c:

- she had a house party in October and I was too battered and my mate the next day said she was 'giving me the eyes' and I should've made a move

- I bumped into her at a supermarket just before xmas break and I got really positive vibes. She was really smiley and her eyes were big and she touched her hair etc. - the signs you'd look for.

-then she invites me to go clubbing for her bday and I've seen her 4 times in my life. She knows I'm a party animal from my snapchats etc. but we go to different unis (I'm Manchester Uni and she's Man Met), so we haven't got much in common other than our city and a party we were at.

I really want to kiss her when we go out and we're drunk if I get those vibes again. If we have a moment where we pause and look into each other's eyes, should I just go for it? I feel odd because I'm 20 and I don't have much experience on how to kiss and act...any tips on how to gage if she's still interested without being 'creepy'?

I was so with you . . . happy for you, planning to encourage you etc. until this sentence.

If an excessive amount of alcohol (drunk) is the only way you can open up, you need to revisit your relationship with booze. One for liquid courage OK fine. Having to get drunk is a problem.

At 20 I am assuming you are outside of the US or you won't be getting into many clubs.

Being excited that she asked you; being there for her & being upbeat is all great.

If you want to stand out at the beginning of the night bring her one flower but NOT a rose. I'm thinking brightly colored gerber daisy. Buy her a drink & toast (clink glasses ) her birthday.

Creepy would be to kiss her when you are drunk.

I agree with the comment above: open up without being drunk to truly connect with her. :)

Good luck!

I don't know don. In most cases alcohol just inhibits you to do things that you WANT to do, but normally wouldn't (or too shy to do). Its the best truth serum there is ;)

Go to her party - have fun (don't just hone in on her, talk to everyone). Don't make any moves on her unless you're both alone or more isolated - if you make a move in front of everyone on her, you could create an embarrassing situation for everyone.

She likes you, but please let me hit the reset button because you have not yet been on anything resembling a date and so you cannot kiss her until you ask her on a date. And you can't wait to get hammered first. Because yes, that is creepy and not always very pleasant on the receiving end. And it makes you look a combination of conniving and weak because you have to either be drunk or get her drunk to proceed.

Here's what you do. If there's time before the party, tell her thanks for inviting you and add, Hey, are you doing anything Friday? I'd love to take you to a movie.

Then stay sober, go to the movie, guide her down the aisle to your seats with your hand on her back or elbow. Occasionally touch her arm when you talk to her and see how she responds. If she seems like she's getting cozy at the movie, you could hold hands or put your arm around the back of the seat. When you take her home afterward, walk her to the door and give her a slightly lingering nontongue kiss on the mouth and say, See you on your birthday.

See if she texts you the next day to say thank you. If not, text her and say you had a good time. Once. If she acts like she likes you, you could even ask her if she'd like you to be her date for her party. Good luck. Stop drinking so much.

Okay you're only 20 so I'm gonna cut you some slack about all the drinking....but what I don't understand is why you need to be drunk to "feel" like kissing her?

Do you ever feel like kissing her when you're not drunk?

Or do you mean...you always feel like kissing her no matter if you're sober or drunk... but you need to be drunk in order to gather the courage to kiss her??

Clearly she likes you ... and your drinking doesn't seem to bother her...yet anyway. But if you end up dating her, it may become an issue so it might be a good idea to try to tone it down just a tad when you're out with her....

I understand the concept of alcohol as a social lubricant. I'm not against one or two & I even said liquid courage is OK. I took umbrage about the OPs desire to be drunk. Something less, that's closer to sober then sloppy may be OK.

Sorry I think I've been misunderstood here. I don't intend to get so drunk and then just throw myself at her lol.

I meant it as in I'm going to go out and drink a few to loosen up. Obviously it's her birthday so I don't want to be the story of the night! But if the opportunity arises and I feel she's feeling the same I'm gonna get closer to her and see how she responds. If it goes well I want to ask her on a date.

She's invited me out wednesday so I won't be texting her before that, maybe other than to wish her a happy birthday on monday...

she said 'it will be good to see me :)' and that was a natural end to our mini convo until I next see her so I'll leave it at that

Yeah I figured you meant you wanted to drink to loosen up a bit.

I do the same thing sometimes... Nothing like a little alcohol to help you stop overthinking things and just do them :p
