nonickhere Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I like a guy and he likes me. The problem is that he has cancer, . He is going through chemo. I´m afraid of how my family will react if he becomes my bf.

You might fall in love and be heartbroken if he were to pass. Then again many people have beat Cancer and pulled through successfully. You never know until you take a change. Does your parents have to know he has cancer? Do you see yourself falling for this guy? If not I don't think you should waste his time if theres not much left.
Countryside Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 you said that him having cancer is a problem right? obviously you see that as a negative. please embrace this young man and treasure the time you and he spend together. he doesn't want to be treated like an antique, but lets be honest, he's a person and he's just as deserving of love as you are. I'm saddened by the fact that you're scared of what your parents will think. Have they no respect and/or love for humanity in that you're with/in love with another human being? For you to date this guy demonstrates to your parents, to him and to the world that you're completely unselfish and unmaterialistic. Go for it!!! I think you should date him!!! he'll teach you more about life than you could ever learn without him!!!
jp79 Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Well, yes, date him, but ONLY if you think you have the emotional strength to stick it out no matter what happens. Because yeah, it's probably a great lift for him to be dating someone right now, but it will be destruction for him to break up down the road. Do you have that strength? Do you care about him enough? I don't want to sound harsh, but what your parents think of this is the least of your problems.... (But really, if you think you can, go for it )
