Why do some people accept friend requests after a long time even if they see it?

I have seen that many people that you sent a friend request see it and they accept it after two days or more. You can see them liking photos and doing other stuff but the normal thing is to have seen and your friend request. Why do they do that? Especially if they use the app they get an instant notification. What do they want to achieve with that? Could it be maybe that they haven't really seen it while they like photos at the same time?

They probably are setting a good example by occupying themselves with things outside Facebook.

I had someone accept my friend request 20 months after I sent it. By then we weren't even friends anymore.

The person who sent a friend request probably doesn't mean much to them.
