A Meetup up group, geared towards a singles function was planned last night. Mingled with a few people, but sadly, it seems a lot of women at the Meetup were spending countless times looking at their smart phones/ chatting with someone else with some man trying to awkwardly introduce himself to her.

Cripes, might as well stay home if you're going to do that, right?

Though, even in non-singles venues you do see people burying their faces in their hand held devices these days, right?

For some people they are like security blankets. To me they may as well be No Trespassing signs. I am certainly not going to try to talk to somebody who is buried in their phone.

Seek out like minded people who are making eye contact & leave the rest to their self imposes isolation.

At an organized social event, I usually interrupt them just to spite them while I'm introducing myself. Its my way of saying, "You're at a social event, get out of your phone and start talking to people."

Now I wouldn't do it in general out in public though.
