I attended a talk recently, and the receptionists/hostesses were the same gals as last time.

I remembered them (their faces, not their names) from my previous visit, which was over a month ago.

Much to my surprise, they remembered me as well. The interesting thing is, the previous talk was very well attended: over 100 people in a large lecture hall.

I was actually quite surprised that they both remembered me. One of the receptionists actually joined me (briefly) during the discussion session in the middle of the panel presentation. She also took a few minutes to find me and talk to me at the end of the talk as well.

It's always nice to know people remember and care about you.

Anyone have similar experiences?

I am not just memorable... when people meet me and I am on form I am unforgettable! :D

Its called being warm and welcoming towards people and paying an interest in them and their day.

People tend to remember me.

I do not tend to remember people.

I do not like this, as it is awkward. I'd prefer people not pay me much attention, anyhow, and not remember me until I remember them. :D

Call everyone Darling or Sweetpea... covers a multitude of sins and a bad memory for names. Been doing it for years and rarely get caught out. I still call people by the wrong names even after knowing them for years... Another trick is to make a "thing" of their name when you meet them, turn it into a conversational piece/ compliment. Met a chap called James, knew I would forget so called him "King James the First" all evening!

The Sweetpea and Darling thing gives you time to find out what they are called by someone else using their name...

Don't tell everyone I use this trick... My close friends know but then they also know how terrible I am with peoples names, show me a horse or dog and I will recognise it 20 years later, people? Nah. Sieve for brain.
