Can you tell me what your opinion is on; partner off a yr - who wants me and my 5yr old daughter to move into his house, shares a lot of personal details with ex wife.. Is this regular??

No, I don't think this the norm unless they had kids together, had an amicable split and maintain friendship for child rearing. Why did they divorce, of she's no threat, more like a sister it might be ok.

I split with my eldest sons father 19 years ago, im still very friendly with him, I went on holiday with him about 10 years ago, we go fishing together sometimes, & talk about things other than our son. My partners have had no problems with it over the years...mind you I've told all of them about his ED. So they don't see him as a threat. ?

Is this regular??

I've seen post marital relationships that run the gamut. My ex and I certainly not close but I grew up with a divorced Aunt/Uncle that spent every holiday, vacation and family event together. And both had SO's that were often involved also, pretty confusing for a young kid :) .

The real question is how does his relationship with his ex make you feel?

my brother is very friendly with his ex wife from decades ago. He even has her and her husband over for weekends at his ranch from time to time.

If you CAN divorce someone, but remain friends, it is way better for the kids that way

Some people can remain civil after a divorce.

However, if you are concerned that he overshares, I would insulate your child from this.

Personally I would not live with a BF after only a year if I had a 5 year old. What message does that send your child?
