Ran into my ex at a random mutual friends bday party. She was with her boyfriend and I was with my current gf. Our back story we dated for 5 years she cheated on me and left me for this guy. It destroyed me. But i am over it for the most part I am over her but not over the fear of what she did that part will stay with me forever. Anyway she came up to me and started a convo was very nice at the start and then all of the sudden she flipped and started yelling at me and calling me an ******* I then walked away from her trying to avoid conflict she then was pushing my current girlfriend when she was walking by to get a drink. After this we still ignored her but she came up to both of us and started yelling at us. I have no clue why or what provoked this and find it odd.All this did was make me so happy I am not with her anymore. But still confused as to why a person would act like this. We are 26 if that matters.

Sounds, uh, dysfunctional.

Maybe her life didn't work out and she thinks yours looks like it did so she's projecting her anger and disappointment over her current situation onto you?

That's my psych 101 analysis of your situation

Well our breakup was pretty nasty to say the least since she cheated on me for a month behind my back after 5 years. Regardless after she came up to me all i said after she said hi was this is a bit wierd and you look good and its wierd not seeing you for 2 years. She continued to make friendly banter for about another minute then started rehashing old **** and tried to get aggressive with me and I didnt want that so I told her i wasnt going to do this and walked away that was the first convo

As a previous poster pointed out, it sounds as though she was projecting her anger onto you. She interpreted your behavior as anger and reluctance to let go of the past---issues she struggles with. She flew into a rage over it. The Narcissist. Imagine someone screaming at a mirror.

It sounds as though, over the last two years, you've managed to pick yourself up and move on with your life. Good for you! I hope I can be where you are in a year. I'm sure this woman has some very good qualities, but she also has some crippling issues that must be worked out before finding peace within herself.

View this as a boost to your ego. The equivalent of someone who hurt you begging for a second chance. Her life choices, as might be expected, damaged her more than you. She must live with the consequences of those actions.

Forgive her, within yourself, and continue to live your life as best you know how~

It's a good thing man. Be happy about it. Use this as a way to complete get rid of her in your head. You're cooler. You're better. You're calm she's angry. If you think of breakups as a powergame you just won in the last minute of the game eventhough it seemed like she had the upperhand before. Good for you man! This story brings a smile on my face on a time when I couldn't feel worse. Tell us more how you managed to pull yourself back up. Read my story and give me a couple of pointers. It would love to know

This thread makes me happy as well. Thank you for sharing your story!

Some dumpers are very stubborn. It's funny, my ex cheated (at least emotionally) on me after 6.5 years. I thought she would feel an intense amount of guilt but no, instead, she shoved it in my face how much happier she was without me.

However, for some reason this stopped as soon as I met a new hot girl. Since then I haven't heard a word from her. A part of me feels like it was a massive hit on her ego that I never tried to win her back and found someone new instead. But at the same time, I'm sure she tries hard to convince herself that she actually made the right decision.

I agree with the other that your ex really got angry and frustrated that you were able to move on so quickly. The new guy isn't that exciting anymore and now she realises that the threw away good relationship by cheating. She knows that you would never forgive you, she knows that you prefer your new girlfriend and she knows that she's too stubborn to ever confess to herself that she made a mistake. The result is anger.

You should be proud. I hope this happens to me one day. :)
