loveletterco Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Hello folks! I am a new member here, not here to advertise a certain website or company, but just here to gather market research. I promise, I am not here to spam. That said, I am a 23 year old Mechanical Engineer from Canada. I am not big on "online" dating, especially after knowing how unsafe and disrespectful it could get for the ladies. So, I wondered. We do have a pen-pal system for folks in prisons, eh? Neato. Why not integrate that for someone who chooses to get back into the whole "love-letter" scenario. Seriously, girls in high schools these days do it too. So, basically, there is a "fee" for memberships. Monthly subscription. And every sender gets an opportunity to send a personalized hand written message to 2 choices. Per day. It's safe, because the address is stored with us, and we send it handwritten, automatically. The sender just types in a custom message, along with other perks. Upon receiving such a mail, they can communicate in return, etc. Also, if folks realize things are working out fine, they can choose to give a "reward" say, phone number out to the other person. I feel, most spams and scam artists won't pay money to lure people into giving them money. And especially, go through a lengthy process. I have plans to integrate it with safer features, such as, local hotspots where folks can meet each other for the first time. Love Letters That's a place for folks who can sign up to receive special updates. Thanks for letting me share my little nitty gritty website. Any criticisms or suggestions are encouraged and welcome!

Erised Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 So basically it's a paid dating site that restricts you to 2 initial contact messages a day, and you have to use snail mail instead of email/IM. The snail mail is the bad part. Limited contact per day might not bebad for online dating because it cuts down on women getting bombarded, raises stakes and shows actual interest when a message is sent- and promotes both men and women to engage more because of that.
PegNosePete Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 It doesn't cut down on women getting bombarded at all. The restriction is 2 messages sent each, not 2 messages received. I imagine the top 10% would get 90% of messages and because of the restriction, the other 90% would have to wait for weeks to get anything (while the guys went through the top 10% at a rate of 2 per day rather than blasting through them all in 5 minutes like they do on other sites). Overall it sounds like a totally ridiculous idea.
