 So, I decided to start practising Aikido because I got bored of yoga/pilates and wanted to try sth new. I've always liked martial arts. I attended one lesson just to see what is all about. I really liked the teacher and I can't help it. I'm trying to move on in my life and I rarely like guys so much as him. We talk but not much. How can I approach him/flirt a little without sounding like a needy lady or hitting on him??? I feel so anxious and sick sometimes. please help me with your opinions. [especially, male advice would be of utmost help!] :o

Hitting on guys is a weird concept.

Since women get hit on so much more than guys, blatantly asking out men will be successful more for women than men if women choose to use that as a weapon.

However, the caveat is that the men women choose to hit on are often highly desired, so those men are often used to the attention and can even see blatant attention as stalkerish or creepy.

Either way, I would say your odds are quite good as a woman approaching a man.

Flirting is pretty much hitting on. Next time you are talking with him ask him if he would like to get food with you after class. He can probably already tell you are interested...

Thanks for the feedback guys. The problem is that when we finish the lesson, he talks to many of his male students and I can't go and ask him out  Any other suggestions? Should I just act indifferently and focus only on the lesson?

Haha. This is classic. I do Aikido in my country. Let me tell you a story. (I'm a guy).

Once I was sparring with a female asian student (I'm just 5th Kyu as well). I think we were doing Katatori Shihonagi...anyways. This girl I didn't really feel very attracted to. She had a hot voice, but she was kind of plain visually. So I never really felt much for her prior.

So we are both doing the technique and I like to put of bit of pressure on my opponent so they can really feel the action. Out of nowhere she said to me

"I didn't realize how strong you were Larry"

Boing!! Instant sex signals went off in my head. For some reason I felt really strongly attracted to her after that. I got her number but we never ended up dating.

I'd say, make him feel like a man. There is nothing hotter than a woman who flirts with a guy and makes him feel strong about himself.

I'm not saying don't give it a try. But just something to consider before you proceed is do you really want to date someone who is kind of in a position of power over you? I know its not like you're working for him or with him. But its a teacher-student dynamic. If anything goes wrong it could get very awkward being in his class still. So just ask yourself if he's worth that risk.

And I agree with Larry, I've found that men love it when you make them feel masculine;) As to how to ask him out after class, maybe try walking up, and he'll be talking to the other students of course, but just kind of wait around and make eye contact. If the other students are there, and he asks, just casually say you need to talk to him about your payment or finances for the class. Makes sense to keep that private right?

On that last point I want to get other opinions here, because she can't ask him out if the other students are right there, so do you think its ok if she tells a little fib so she can ask him discretely?

Useful advice Larry and Zebracolors! I'll take it into consideration! Firstly, I 'll see if it's worth taking risks and then I'll say sth to make him feel strong like man [not that he isn't haha:D] or talk to him discretely. I'm sure there must be other ladies who do the same and I just want to be different. :( Thanks god there are more men than women taking aikido lessons, so I don't have a lot of competition. feeewww  If you have any other ideas, let me know!

Thank you xoxo
