Tinder:"not looking for a hookup"

Here's another opinion...

Titled "Dating with Tinder, What it's really like dating with hookup apps"

Dating With Tinder - AskMen

I found it by Googling "hookup sites".

Askmen is such a terrible "mens magazine". Ive seen them say a load of stupid crap over the years...from articles on penis size...to prude women...to guys and their cash. They always have a narrow uneducated view of things.

Anyways, Blendr was the app that was supposed to be a straight person's hookup app. It was from the same people that made the Grindr app for guy dudes.

Guess what? Blendr has been a HUGE failure because many women dont want to use it. And the creator of Tinder in interviews has said Tinder has been successful because its marketed as a dating app...and many women arent naturally inclined to random hookups ( though Ill say the latter depends on the girl)

RedRobin...you need to move on. This thread clearly is not for you...and no one cares about you bashing the app. Let me repeat....your cultural background and age group make it obvious this app is not geared towards you. And over your time on this site, you always make it a habit of bashing anything that isnt as conservative as your cultural background is.

 we get it, you like conservative men, who have never really hooked up or been into anything remotely linked to casual sex. Good...go find those men. Though tbh...with the way you talk about dating and stick your nose up at people...Im not surprised at your age and romantic luck.

Loosen up.

And yet...over 6 years on OKC and POF...yet more success in dates, hookups, and seeing someone exclusively when using Tinder for a little over 1 year.

Articles mean little. Proof is in the pudding based on what everyone is finding on the site. They find whatever they seek out. Want a relationship? You can find one. Want a booty call? You can find that too.

Many guys on POF and OKC wanna hook up too. Which is why many profiles also have that warning of "im not looking for a booty call". Apps and sites dont change the fact that many guys want quick sex.

The only thing I don't like Tinder is that since it;s connected to FB is if I wanted to change pics my FB friends will wonder why am I constantly changing pics not knowing I am doing it because I am on tinder

That's what I do, if I am on a dating site and a certain pic is not generating any feedback I get rid of it and add another one but that won't be possible with Tinder

Um, no. Tinder let's you browse all of your photos on Facebook and choose whichever one you want from any album you want. So you just choose a different photo from within Tinder. No changes are made on FB.

If you want to use a photo that isn't on Facebook yet, just upload it to a private album only visible to you. No one will see anything.

I refuse to believe anyone has ever met anyone from Tinder. For hooking up or otherwise. It's nothing but fake profiles or worse on there. Just one big scam...

I've met about 10 guys on there for dating and 1 FWB. Never done "hookups" in my life. Although nothing wrong with hookups. Also seen people i actually already know, it's not a scam.

Except, you can. And people do.

People who are serious about a relationship do choose Tinder. I just gave you an example of myself. I have others like one of my best friends who's been with his gf he met a year ago off Tinder.

Sorry, those are facts.

This is true.

I'm not going to continue to completely bash tinder. My BFs sister met her BF on tinder. Fluke?, Perhaps.

Bottom line is that tinder takes less effort to use so you're more likely to find people that are less likely to put effort into a relationship.

Do us all a favor & stop with all the judgmental, above it all attitude. What if people on here were calling you desperate or pathetic to have to even succumb to online dating because you couldn't find someone in your day to day who liked you...so then people assume you must be unattractive or something else not so nice that may hurt your feelings. You don't like tinder or those who use tinder, that's your prerogative but no need to be ugly to people who disagree. There are more than a few members on this thread that you have been very rude to & frankly, enough is enough with your disrespectful manner.

You think this is bad? Wait til you see her contributions to the Age Gap thread!

First of all, it's free. Totally no cost to you. Only requirement is a decent smartphone. Only marketing thing I ever saw on there is Mindy Kaling's profile came up  because she was promoting her TV show. Too bad, we totally could have clicked.

Seriously though, I've had nice exchanges and talked on the phone with a couple of women (Tinderettes?!). No date, but how does that make the company any more of a scam than every other dating site in existence?

Granted, the CEO is a scumbag (or was), but that's neither here nor there.

I must be doing something wrong because I have never been on a dating site and not gotten and messages in 5 days lol

Yea, well lots of guys aren't going to get serious about women who are into casual sex either, no matter how much they claim otherwise... Lots of women don't want the men who have stuck their parts everywhere either. Tinder is not the target market for those not interested in hooking up or finding those who do. Thank you for backing me up there.

And my romantic life is pretty good and getting better.. Mostly because I don't waste my time baiting my hook in ponds stocked with fish I don't want. I get it that lots of people prefer the cast net approach. Knock yourself out. On Tinder, OKC, or any other hookup site.

... And something else for women to consider... Not making the lovely gentlemen who currently run the place rich on your back. Literally..lol.

not looking for a hookup means they don't want dick pics sent. no girl wants to hookup. we all know this. no need to broadcast it. I've tried tinder, but its mostly spam. nobody meets they just use it as a game. i found that hoobee in iTunes is better than tinder. no Facebook info or email required either. you can actually post a snapshot (moment) to entire database of users too instead of only just your matches. the best part is they actually have a thumbs up or like icon and a thumbs down icon too!

Exactly. Not looking for a hookup in a specific way. I just write it so I dont get "hey sex date?" "lets hook up" messages. Maybe when I am chatting with a man, I could become sexually interested in him and will want to have sex. I need them to make me want to hookup, not to just ask it.

Tbh I always assume guys who write things like "hey you wanna hookup?" are terrible in bed. You dont even know how to approach a woman, dont even try to make me like you and become interested, dont seduce or flirt with me.. must be a guy who rushes foreplay, does some jackhammer sex and then thinks the sex is done after he finished

Anyway good way to weed out the guys I guess.

I notice this on women's profile in tinder quite a bit.

What does "not looking for a hookup" actually mean in woman language?

I would be a fool if I took these words literally, that has already become obvious...

No woman wants to be seen as "looking for a hookup". They all will with the right guy the right setting and enough discreet anonymity and a bit of liquor and the right time in their cycle.

When you see that just take it as a sign not to say stupid sh*t like "hey babe lets get together and f*ck" and not send cock shots. Treat it like a straight up date but dont be afraid to progress quickly. They're on tinder because they are looking for something. ;)

I don't doubt you have had much success overriding the disclaimer. I am a caveat tinder user. Maybe there aren't many like me. I use tinder to screen mass quantities of men to find the few with substance. I am after the hot sex that comes with cerebral connection and love. I use the no hook up disclaimer so I can say I told you I wasn't into that if a db happens to make it under my radar. The fact that other women still play into the "no means yes" bs I can't be held accountable for. I also do am coffee just to weed out the dbs who rely on booze to get action. I have had sex with a man or two where the mental and physical attraction was solid and the company was good despite apparent disconnect in other ways. Good old fashioned consenting adults sharing company but sex wasn't straight out of the gate. I do use tinder to get laid just later down the line with a guy I connect with. :lmao: And ovulation has never made me drop drawer for a tinder stranger. :lmao: How do you know she is ovulating?

... for the guys... how many women that you've met (IRL, Tinder, or other online sites) actually meant it when they said that? Or did you end up effing on the first date anyway? Just curious.

Even though I'd like a relationship it's a huge turnoff when a girl straight up says that she's not looking for a hookup. It gives off a bitchy, standoffish, snobbish vibe. I tend to avoid those woman.

It's the equivalent of a guy saying "Just here to fck."

Most of the time a little mystery is good.
