:(:( I have gained wieght and really want to lose 20 pounds, but I have NO motivation. I'm not fat, but have been much smaller. All I want to do is go back to what I use to weigh. How and where do I get the motivation to eat right and exersise. The weight I put on is effecting my sex life since I'm not comfotable with my body. Any advice will help. Thanks in advance. :(

That can be one motivator right there, especially since you mentioned it yourself.

Besides looks, there are plenty of reasons to adapt a healthy lifestyle. Just go to google and type up "disease" and "overweight" or "obesity" and you will find motivation right there. Fast forward to when you are older and think about how you wish you could go back and done more to be more healthy, for you, your loved ones, and friends.

Foods that are bad for you can often taste very good, but a healthy diet does not mean carrot sticks and celery either. Look through some low-fat recipes and try a variety of them until you find something you like. Or if you don't cook, just experiment with different healthier eating options. Are there any sports you would enjoy playing? If so, find one and work it into your schedule if you can. If not, WALK! So many people do not understand how great walking is as a fat-burning exercise. We get caught up in the "no pain no gain" credo and think it has to be hard. Walking is easy, can be done anywhere, and gives you some peaceful alone time to mull over things in your life or plan the next day or week. Or if you prefer company, go walking with a friend.

I would also recommend not focusing strictly on losing 20 pounds. Just think about eating healthier and being a little more active. You do not need to lose it all at once, and you will be more prone to keep it off if you enjoy what you are doing.

And yes, it can improve sexual appeal and/or sexual enjoyment too.

Excellent advice. Couldn't state it better.

Lovelady, I am in the same position. I am trying to lose 15 lbs and it's very hard. But I already lost a few. I was looking at skinny girls with no cellulite and remembered that I can look like that too. Look at the mirror and remember how you used to be sexy before.

I also think of all the guys (including mine) who like thin girls and how I once was one of them.

You shouldn't lose weight rapidly, but try to write down little goals, such as "not eat today anything except this and that".

The golden rule for losing weight is - skip dinner and go to bed hungry.

When you feel this terrible hunger, your body is actually losing weight...Think about this when you're hungry. If you skip dinner, you'll wake up thinner tomorrow. If you eat, you will only feel guilty and fat.

Don't throw up (that not only might kill you like it killed Terri) but it also doesn't help in losing weight - medically proven.

And don't use laxatives, it ruins your gastro-system.

When you have to eat, grab veggies, fruits, yogurt, integral rice, and low fat meat. Forget the fatenning stuff. You will eat them occasionally once you lose the 20 lbs.

Whenever you need to eat, ask yourself what's more important to you - to be thin or to eat that piece of cake? ;)

If you're too lazy to exercise, just walk or dance for yourself.
