Because its one of those "kids" shows with a lot of jokes aimed at teens and adults. Some of the references go right over kids heads. I watch Regular Show as well, and no way would a 10 yr old be able to appreciate the hair-metal and other 80s/90s references they do in the show. Nevermind some of the story writing really appeals to adults and has good messages for teenagers coming of age. Watch the episode "Breezy" from Adventure Time and you'll see what I mean. That whole episode is about getting over your ex, and how going on random hookups wont make you feel better. There's also a virgin angle in that story too. They hide it all well enough for it to fly over the heads of kids...but older teens and adults would easily understand whats going on.
