I really liked this guy from college who moved away, but now I found out that he will be dating another girl he was used to like. I didn't think he wanted a serious relationship with her, but I was wrong. I can't stop thinking about him, even though I know I can't be with him. So now I need some tips on how to distract myself from thinking of him. I just need easy, but helpful tips on how to do it.

There are no easy methods for getting over someone you had feelings for. Time heals all pain. Just invest your time into yourself. Indulge in old hobbies, pick up a new one or three, learn a language, exercise (which is one of the best ways for getting over heartbreak), spend more time with family and friends, go out and meet new people if you like, etc. Keep yourself busy and in a matter of a few weeks you will no longer feel sad.

First, no direct or indirect contact, that means no stalking his FB or any other of his social media accounts for that matter. No asking friends about his dating status. If your friends know you like him, ask them to stop feeding you any info about him.

Second, get busy. Learn new things, acquire new hobbies, go out with friends and family. Go to the gym, exercise will generate endorphins which can counteract whatever depressed feelings you have, plus, you'll look damn good.

Infatuation is an emotion triggered by chemicals in your brain, the same that causes addiction. Remove all stimuli that's associated with the addiction then in time you'll crave it less then stop altogether.

Good luck!
