simplicity1 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I'm a straight female, but I'm having a strange experience with a new female friend of mine...I've spent a ton of time with her and we've been having these insane intellectual discussions and working together a lot. I've noticed myself craving to spend a tons of time with her and just know every possible thing about her and how her mind works... I'm attentive to certain things about her that I wouldn't normally be in a girl. The thought of kissing her *is not* at all appealing to me...but I think I'd actually still call what I'm feeling an attraction of some sort!! This has never happened to me before...has anyone had experiences of this sort?

salparadise Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 When this happens between two men it's call a Bromance. A bromance is a close non-romantic relationship between two (or more) men, a form of affectional or homosocial intimacy. It's a bit unusual, beyond a normal friendship. I don't know of an equivalent term for women. Women tend to form close friendships much easier than men; it's not at all unusual for two women to enjoy a high degree of non-sexual intimacy within a friendship whereas men are socialized to be stoic and avoid sharing their feelings with other men. Men tend to be competitive with each other while women are cooperative. I'm wondering about these feelings you're having. Have you ever considered your natural place on the Kinsey Scale? Even if the idea of kissing her seems not so appealing consciously, it sounds like you're having a visceral reaction that makes you wet. Perhaps you're just more sexually fluid than you previously realized? Or it could just be the female version of a bromance. Interested in hearing more of your thoughts on it.
regine_phalange Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 It's a friendly attraction, you just have a soft spot for her.
