SycamoreCircle Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Can anyone explain this phenomenon? OK Cupid has become saturated with these profiles of women, very attractive, one pic only(usually) with fields that read inane. Self-Summary: Im a God-fearing woman who loves her man til death do us part. I want a good man to help me and my child make it through the day. _________________ There's just...SO MANY OF THEM! What does the person get out of making these fictitious things? Sometimes they contact me: Hi, my Names Vanessa whats your name? I even tried one time to directly ask them why they do this...no reply. Characteristics of these ads: -very attractive woman -one pic(sometimes more) -reference to God -lousy grammar -immediate declaration of name -dialogue which maintains a generic quality -sometimes overtly sexual poses
MidwestUSA Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 They're probably scams. Women looking for a meal ticket, or a way into this country. It's not limited to women; my girlfriend almost got sucked into a scam with a guy.

Also, copy and paste their profile verbage into google and do a search. Sometime the whole thing will come up in page after page of websites which provide profile verbage. 1

Author SycamoreCircle Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 You say Catfish or Scam, but these people never WANT anything! Just mindless chatter: Howre you doing?? -Fine. So, you live in Brooklyn? I love it here baby. The weather is great today. Are you tall? etc. Just utter nonsense.
idoltree Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Just utter nonsense. Because even the scammers know that they have to start making a connection somehow, but aren't invested. So they keep up the conversation with chatter until you give them something they can work with to deepen the emotional connection on your part. I don't understand why this is confusing for you. If you keep the desired outcome in mind - a man who can be manipulated - it all makes sense. 1
preraph Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Probably fake women, some company trying to get men to pay them for stuff. Or could even be the website itself posted fake ones to make it look like they had women.
insert_name Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I just cant believe how obvious these people are, I am often tempted to message them to tell them its the fakest profile I have ever seen and they need to raise their game. Typically its a pic of a hot woman (the sort that really stands out as neing incongruous on OLD) after checking their profile to confirm your suspicions it turns out to be the only pic and they either have no profile text or it is short, generic and is devoid of any character. What you dont know if whether its a money scam or a profile set up by a bloke to check out the competition. ...or maybe a cigar is actually a cigar and hot women really have no personality. Hmm....

If you keep the desired outcome in mind - a man who can be manipulated - it all makes sense. Because what you're telling me simply isn't true. I've played along with their little game in the past. It just goes in endless circles. It could literally be as fruitless as the following: Howre you doing? Fine. And yourself? Howre you? Great. What's up? You look great. How are you? Peachy. I'm dipping my face in acid right now. Awesome. Whatre you up to today? Nothing. Cool. I think youre hot.
kendahke Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Because what you're telling me simply isn't true. I've played along with their little game in the past. It just goes in endless circles. well, now you know who to put on block.
CC12 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 You say Catfish or Scam, but these people never WANT anything! A scam seems the most likely, and the most obvious goal to me. They're not going to just come right out and declare their love for you or ask you for something right away. They're not elite scammers, but they're not that stupid. Since you seem certain it's not a scam, why do you think their goal is?
