I e-mailed a girl on match, I wasn't being serious, I just sort of wrote whatever came to my mind as I glanced over her profile and sent her this:

"That's funny, you don't look sarcastic.

Oh, and your dad looks like a fox. Your whole family is very cute"

I wasn't expecting a reply, actually I was expecting to be reported since I'm sort of sick of the site. But then she sends me this:

"Oh thanks. I don't really know what sarcastic looks like. That's actually not my dad he's my former high school teacher. I ran into him at a cousin's grad party. I'm sure he'd like the compliment."

Sounds like she wants to talk... should I respond?

Do you want to respond?

If so, respond!

She sort of mirrored you, important to notice that. She stayed entirely on topic and did not ask you any questions, as you did not ask her any questions. Mirroring in this context is generally a good sign, and it's also useful to pick up on it because if she is interested, you will be able to tell with her next response by asking her a question now. If she asks you one back then she is still mirroring you and is very likely interested. The only way in which she did not mirror you was by not looking at your profile and asking a question, but given the sort of.. well nature of your message, that doesn't surprise me because she probably can't tell if you are really interested or not. If you are interested in her ask her a friendly follow up question and see if she asks you a question if/when she responds.

Don't suddenly turn serious! I'd keep the light banter for a little while. She sounds fun.

"I was hoping you would say that was your dad. That would make you part fox as well and since I'm part hound it would obligate us to become best friends"

That's actually pretty cute.

Yes, OP, you should respond.

Hey, I wish I could borrow your brain when I do these OLD things.

I just responded with:

"I thought "you have a sincere smile" wasn't flattering enough so... but honestly, I'm sort of sick of this site, so I've been writing really random stuff to people in the recent weeks. People actually reply... Anyway, I can't tell by the tone of your message if you're interested in talking, but I certainly wouldn't pass up the opportunity to chat."

Saying more clearly than I could ever say in words that I lack both an imagination and a playful side.
