How and why did this ever become a thing?

Legitimate question, I see a lot of duckface's pretty much everywhere now. But it's extremely prominent in the OLD circuit.

I'll be honest, if I'm flipping through profiles on a dating site, I tend to have this automatic reaction to just pass up the one's where people are making a duckface. Maybe that's shallow of me, but I just find it so laughably dumb looking that I can't take anything that person states on their profile seriously.

So two questions here.

#1 - If you are a duckfacer...Why do you do it?

#2 - Do you find it attractive? Or are you like me and repulsed by it?

So common here in TX. I wonder if it's common elsewhere.

I don't do it. But I also don't do big hair and spray tans in December.

I am a female, but I find it so unnattractive when my fellow females do this.

So #2, it's just....no thank you.

I was actually curious as to why people contort their faces like that as well, so I looked it up. Apparently, it slims down your face and makes your face shape more attractive, plus the pouting of the lips is supposed to make you look sexy. And you see models pose with that particular look. Except they are professional and kind of pull it off sometimes. Unfortunately not so much for everyone else. So the combination of fuller lips and slimmed down face goes for a more attractive shot. *shrug*

In Asia, where I am from, we have the equally annoying "blow up your cheeks to look young and innocent" face. It just makes them look like squirrels who stuffed their faces but people here do that face all the time. So not attractive.

I think the most attractive thing is the smile.

I agree 120%

A good smile win's me over faster than anything. And that's interesting about what the women in Asia do. I had honestly never heard of that so I had to look it up as well and sure enough.

It's sad that people do silly little things like to try and make themselves more ''beautiful''.
