I second the casino idea.

I don't have any issues going out alone but for NYE I'd just rather be alone at home if I have to be alone than out alone, mainly because it's always hectic. But the casino idea sounds like something fun you could do alone!

You don't have at least one other friend who would want to hang out and go with you?

I have no problem going to the movies or to dinner by myself, but I wouldn't do so on NYE for reasons already mentioned. Why not gather a bunch of your single friends (...or acquaintances) and go out for the evening? Or you could have a house party at your place and ask everyone to bring a single friend of the opposite gender to the party. It can't be someone they are interested in romantically. I've done both on different NYEs, and it's been a total blast. I've also vacationed this time of year, so I've had lots of fun but different NYEs celebrating in different countries.

Another option would be to watch a bunch of movies, but that seems a little depressing. For me, it's nice to end the year on a positive note celebrating with others.

Well the casino idea, even though I love it, isn't going to work. I forgot that you can smoke in them and with the kind of crowd they're expecting for nye I won't be able to breathe. The one time I did go to a casino it was midweek and pretty slow so it wasn't smoky and you hardly smelled anything.

And nope there aren't single friends to invite over for a bring another single party or to group together doing anything because they're all finding dates for nye or will be out of town. I'd be the only single. I can't quite explain it, but somehow that seems more pathetic than just staying home lol. I don't have a large enough space for hosting anyway.

I may end up just going to the movies for a double feature which isn't so terrible.

I'll be out alone on NYE for the first time in 11 years on Wednesday. Christmas sucked, but since I've only a very small family I've recently been spending Christmas just with them, as my ex was from around 250 miles away. I'd always travel to hers though for a few days over New Years. This year I'll be alone and I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to cope.

I hadn't thought of going to the movies or the casino for new year's. I go to the movies alone all the time and I would guess it'd be less crowded on new year's. Hmmmm I'll have to see what's playing. I'm not much of a gambler, but a lot of casinos near me have live music which that would be fun. so I'll check out their calendar. I imagine casinos attract a lot of people alone especially if you're just visiting the area or didn't want to go see family or something.

Funnily enough a roulette table is a great place to meet people, if you can string out the amount you invest you will soon get talking to someone about the shared experience of losing your money! I've had some great fun with other players when I have been in a casino at a busy table on a big night like a Friday/Saturday.

Happy New Year everyone! I just wanted to say I did end up going to the movies last night and it turned out to be a great idea. It wasn't crowded or swarming with kids and there were plenty of other people that were there solo (not sure if they were single or just without their other half). Even though I can watch movies at home it was nicer to have others around so I'll consider this in the future if I find myself single for nye again.
