Is always the one who ends the date after a couple of hours. Just once I think I need to end things even if I am interested just to show I have other plans and not make it appear that my life is that dull. Just can't believe I have allowed this to happen over and over and never being the one who ends the date first.

I'm referring to first meet and greets from someone you meet online.

Ever heard the saying, "Always leave them wanting more."

What you can do is end dates early when they are at a high point.

So? I think it's very gentleman for a man to wait for the lady to put an end to the meeting.

First meet and greet doesn't have to be long and drawn out unless you and the lady want it to be. Back when I used OLD to meet strangers, I generally bought them lunch, a choice which defined a particular timeline. If things went well, I suggested a more involved, potentially longer date. If not, moved on. Not every first meeting is a hit.

I don'tl recall any first meetings being over an hour or so, even with my exW, who I met for lunch on a rainy day at a little Mexican restaurant I normally ate at. Since we both had to drive about 30 miles to get there from different directions, she was a bit late but I allowed for that, being used to women being late for dates due to distance. Needless to say we got on well so made arrangements for a longer dinner date at a future point and went from there.

It's OK to 'end the date first'. If you like the lady, that end can be a suggestion for another date. If not, hey we had a good time and it's a miss. That's life.

I will definitely keep this in mind for the future

I'm just curious, why is this important? What difference does it make that you weren't the one to end the date?
