kolleamm Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Another one of those Colombo detective questions. I was in the hallway at school. This really cute Asian girl I always see at the cafeteria eating by herself walked by me today. She looked at me with the corner of her eye, smirked and gently stroked her hair back while walking by. Can I infer anything from this event or is it to vague?
Danda Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I don't think you can infer anything for certain, no. For some women that's just their natural body language. I've had several female friends who smile/smirk often and play with their hair a lot just while moving around. But it does imply that she's probably more open to talking to you than say a gal who just stares right through/past you or looks at you like she finds you repulsive. Plus if she's eating by herself that means you have a really easy setup for approaching. So if you think she's really cute go for it?
Author kolleamm Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 I've had a few chances to go up to her and sit at her table but....how do I do that? We have no classes or anything together, I just don't want to come off as creepy.

Just try to think of it in really simple, straightforward terms instead of analyzing it to death and coming up with a million possible things that might go wrong. She's eating alone. She seems friendly. You think she's cute. So you go up to her, smile naturally and say, "Mind if I sit with you?" And take it naturally from there. If she's a nice person, it will probably be a cakewalk. If you come off as "creepy" just for doing that, then she has issues. 1
Author kolleamm Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 I guess I'll give it a try on Thursday. I just hope I don't wear too much cologne.
Danda Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I guess I'll give it a try on Thursday. I just hope I don't wear too much cologne. Just remember that you're not the one up for audition here. You are going out of your way to offer her some friendly company. Short of you being really disrespectful or crazy, if she has a negative reaction, that's her problem, not yours. So there's no need to be nervous. 1
Author kolleamm Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Kinda makes me wonder why she eats alone in the first place, I guess I'll find out. Your advice helped, thanks
Author kolleamm Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 great now I have to do it...lol ok I will 1
Author kolleamm Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 So I did go through with it today lol I basically saw her eating by herself, slapped myself a couple of times and went up to her. I said "excuse me do you have another pencil I could borrow mine ran out of lead?" She gave me a pencil and I told her how I always see her eating by herself and was wondering why. Anyways I asked if I could sit at her table and she said ok. Talked for 10 min, said she had to get to class, I asked her if she texts and she politely declined (even though she was texting before I approached her) I went to my next class afterwards and hit it off really nicely with a better looking girl who sat right behind me! lol Not a bad day! 1

Noice. I'd call the encounter with the Asian girl a success, though, even if she politely turned you down. You faced some fear, approached perfectly and didn't have a meltdown when she declined. That's points under the belt regardless. 1
